Bill gates has resigned as CEO of Microsoft.
He is now active in his Melinda Gates Foundation.
A very noble gesture.
Many universities were set up by the munificence of rich people.
Many orphanages, destitute homes, schools, and colleges are run by the donations of the rich.
We call it Philanthrophy.
But the Chellapas were different.
The couple were practising doctors in a Christian Medical Hospital.
They had eight children.
All were educated in the best schools.
They all got into the best universities.
Three of them took their parents profession.
Two became teachers, two took to engineering, and the last one -a journalist.
Three of them resembled the Chellaps. The other five looked markedly dissimilar.
Their birth dates were also very close.
As school kids we had our own questions about the eight siblings.
But we let it pass.
It was only after a few years we came to know that the five children were adopted by the couple.
These five were born in the hospital, and were left by their mothers.
Mrs chellappa nursed them as she breast fed her own children.
There was no discrimination whatsoever.
The parents had no inherited wealth.
The family depended on the salary .
The original children of the Chellapas (they would fire me for using the word original)were not aware
that the rest came from a different parentage.
The five children never felt that they were from a different stock. The children are all well settled.
The chellappas have retired.
Every year there is a family reunion.
This is the story of the noble doctors.
My salutatons to Your Grace.
Right, what do you call it?
Shall we term it as Philanthropy?
No , it runs into billions.
Shall we call it as Love?
Nay,it is too simple
Shall we use a higher term Beatitude.
Come on ,friends help me to track the apt word.
Chellapas. May your tribe increase!!
