Fun and a Teach

I opened my sit out in the evening
saw a squirrel playing
with two sparrows.
Not a common sight.

They went up the stairs
one by one
descended the same way.

It was like a parade.
The squirrel led the trio

Beautiful it was
to look at them
perform so neatly.

I kept the door ajar
watched them
with admiration.

They marched into the garden
queued near the tap
the squirrel turned the tap
halfway, water started to flow
they played in the water
later quenched their thirst.

The squirrel tried to close the tap,
left it half done. The water flow
diminished. He could do no more.

It was fun to watch them.
Greater still, it was a teach
on organising.

Lovers Fly

A sparrow  brown and white

came down in a flight

along with came down another

could be his wife or lover no matter

played with affection in the green land

which stretched far and looked grand

a black squirrel  hopped and jumped

looked around in great pomp

saw the birds together in love

sparrowsmoved towards them  on a tiptoe

the little sparrows   flew away

each one in a different direction sad to say

the lovely scene ended up in  such a way

The Squirrel And Ramayana

The squirrels cross my mind often
do also accost me direct
the one I found in Canada
like a big fat hen
looked so robust and strong
both in black and red tone
busy going up and down
gnawing nuts on the way.

The squirrels I see In India
look small and cute
light brown, could I say a mix
of grey and brown in a fix
with prominent stripes on the body
running all over in a mood gay
gnawing fruits on the way.

The stripes I see is peculiar
hold a story strange
attached to a mythology
tagged to the epic Ramayana
where Lord Rama touched the tiny one
the stripes appeared in a sudden
the Lord expressed his gratitude
as the squirrel helped him to win Ravana.

The epic highlights the theme
the smallest one could also render help
a significant illustration of love
a possible interpretation in the course
a symbolic representation of the values
and a point out that small is truly great
the stripes illustrate the theme of beatitude
along with the highest gratitude

The Squirrel’s Gesture.

The squirrel comes up to my window
goes to the ventilator above
a thoroughfare in ups and downs
made me to eye her with a frown.

This being done for not once a day
being seen all through for a few days.
Curious to find out what is going on?squirrel's nest.
climbed up the window with a pull on.

Mounted there cosily on the ventilator
the squirrel had built a nest like an incubator
where its little ones lay cuddled together
tiptoed back down without a whisper.

The squirrel followed me in such speed
she had gone out to hunt for feed
rushed to the spot with a fear
envisaging a potential danger.

Stood away from the nest nervous
keenly looked at my move not pernicious
pleased to find me not harmful
chirped happily, a gesture in a way wonderful.
