Memories Of My Childhood.

Reclining on my arm chair in my porch, I go back to the days of my childhood.

Half a century back,  really so long, I cannot believe, I cannot assume, I shrivel, I recollect the day I got to school.

I was lead into my Kindergarten ,by Sister Denis .

The KG teacher,  carried me aloft, and called me “Dolly.”

Sister Denis, introduced me to the class as Meena, my original name.My eyes got moist, as I bade a subdued farewell to my mom,who in turn wiped her eyes and walked out of the class.

I was a quiet girl, very reserved, and much caressed by my teacher.

I was good worker, a keen listener and had a strong memory.

These qualities  are still predominant, and I was a prefect of my class right from KG to sixth form.

I was elected as the School Pupil leader, with thundering majority.

At home, I was a child ,who gave least botheration to my parents.

The domestic staff ,in my household ,simply adored me.

Now , my children have flown away from me, on pursuit of achievements and excellence.

My husband ,  tries to pull me into social activities and other worldly pursuits.

I dare not.

I wish to be my own self, away from the maddening crowd, unobtrusive, unknown, unfamiliar ,yet studious, serving society without much advertisement, spelling out simple, practical ,advice to whoever   knocks my door.

I wake up from my reverie,as the telephone  starts ringing, bringing me back to the mundane world.

Maldives On A Look Out.

Maldives ,a beautiful island country, is in constant fear.

The picturesque state, surrounded by sea on all sides, will be submerged by water 50 years ,from hence.

Maldivians are basically simple people , who know no other trade ,than fishing and tourism.

Settlement of the entire population in a neighbouring state , is not an easy avocation.

Leaving the country ,where you were born ,is extremely painful.

To exit from a familiar environment, from a practised occupation, from a cosy home, from known people,

from exalted position, from comfortable fortunes, and from assured income, pose a depressing deliverance.

Next, to locate a place ,for the entire population is exorbitantly difficult and informally not possible.

The government and the people gaze at  the Ocean for a definite answer.

Man may err, may fail, may grope, but Nature will never let down her children.

Maldivians ,should not loose heart.

The great sea will win them a reward.

Euphoria Fades

The stock market slipped as the rescue of Citi group became a back liner.

Aiding Citi  is a bad precedent.

U.S. will need a bail out soon.

The nation will need  several trillions to keep it afloat.

Where is the source?

How is it going to earn?

Many  defaulted business will expect the  Fed to help them to come out of the blue.

A retrograde effect  is distributed.

Cancer ,is a deadly disease, which  spreads  fast, eats up every organ, renders the afflicted helpless., requires a harsh medication, subjects the patient to radiation and chemotherapy, reduces him to a bag of bones and  he succumbs to death.

Bail out  is a big plan , but the economy has melted too fast, surgery is not the requirement, amputation also has become unnecessary,as too many areas have been affected.

The crisis is ailing, as there is no  solution available to settle the system.

The gala scenario of bail out has lost its sheen.

Citi group breathes in

Citi group is rescued.

The Fed has decided to infuse capital of 20billion dollars, guarantee of 306 billion dollars for toxic assets, government will take control of executive bonuses, and limits on dividend payments.

A best deal for citi , but a bad bargain for the taxpayer.

Citi ,will survive the present crisis.

But with its bruised injury , ulcerated wound, and contagious infection, it has to fight a losing battle.

A plummeted stock price ,and a defeated manipulation ,Citi poses a shrivelling , stifling ,shuddering

manifesto.

This will lead GM , to redo its reported application for bankruptcy.

Many sinking companies will  expect to find an oxygen mask,in the Fed’s move.

The scramble for aid is  an  exact antithesis for the credibility and citation of the  reputed companies.

Their image is shattered, their trustworthiness is questioned, their business acumen is a threatened, their pride is diffused.

The Fed , instead of settling in for corrective programme ,has resorted to supplement the  much risky alibi.

The inclination of the Fed Is a catastrophic determination .

Wrecked marriages.

Marriages are made in heaven.

Marriage is a coherent, coordinated, relevant, rhythmic ,progression.

If there is a slight tug here, a different pull there, a weak sign of discontent, a predominant note of anger, a prescribed  report of shortcomings, an uninvited interference of the elders, a statutory reference of detailed proceedings of daily life to the parents, will jitter the sanctity of wedlock

Companionship and perfect understanding  formulate a successful marriage.

Trivia and snobbishness ruin the relationship.

Young couple should emulate a friendship devoid of egoism, selfishness, and possessiveness.

A flower looks beautiful, when it is in its bloom.

It is best ,when not plucked, since its charm is experienced by most..

It is better, when it adorns a living room , as its grace is enjoyed by many.

It is good, when it decorates a bride, because it adds glamour to the person.

Wedlock is best when it is allowed to blossom.when it is left untouched by others.

The,  two individuals , who take the oath of marriage, should pledge to live happily, radiate joyous bliss, bring forth worthy off springs, and celebrate the marriage  embellishment

Prime Family Squabble In Media

The prime family ,of Tamilnadu Chief Minister Karunanidhi, are always in the limelight for one reason or other.

The brothers, Alagiri and Stalin  are poles apart, one a flamboyant and the other a much reserved seemingly quiet entity.

Now the nephew Maran’s family has stolen the show.

Karunanidhi ,with his sharp penning and penetrating insight ,has written a detailed note and listed the various events that has led to the estrangement.

Right, a rift is well set.

But why is it given so much publicity?

Is it because ,Karunanidhi, is the chief Minister of Tamilnadu?

Every family ,whether  powerful or ordinary, whether rich or poor, whether famous or less known, have their own differences, own shortcomings, own hard feelings, and own frenzied visions.

Does the media bother  to give an impetus to such distinctive digressions  of the multitude?

Oscar Wilde got wild

I came across a clipping, that spoke about Oscar Wilde’s story sent for publication.

the publisher returned the material ,with a note that it  was not  properly punctuated.

Oscar Wilde got wild, took a sheet of paper and filled it with all sorts of punctuation marks, coma, semicolon, colon, question mark, inverted comas, slash, question mark.

Mediocracy does not recognise brilliance.

Brilliance cannot tolerate mediocracy.

The half baked editors.try to detect mistakes, scrutinise minor flaws, blow it up, proclaim as though they are the best read, best witted, and indulge in harsh criticism  enough to break the hearts.

Oscar Wilde dashed a mocking ,contemptous  record of displeasure.

Punctuations are important, but erring in  not marking them is not a sin.

It may be due to oversight, due to the excitement, due to certain prerogatives.

The comas and semicolons can be added by the editors.

Punctuations ,mostly increase the understanding of  the writing, but do not  add colour and  meaning to the flow of feelings.

Rejection of exemplary materials for lack of punctuation is erroneous and unpardonable.

If Oscar Wilde, had been treated in the same manner ,by other publications, the world would have been deprived of valuable literature.

It would have been an irreperable  loss  to mankind

Cut Prices

Mr.Palaniappan Chidambaram, the flamboyant Indian Finance Minister ,has advised the various sections of the industries ,to cut prices, to tide over the global financial crisis.

Well it is as good as saying , if your shoe pinches, cut your foot.

Right , going by his clarion call, cutting prices , increases demand, and the inventories and finished goods would not be piled up.

Exactly.  to manufacture a product we require ,raw material, power, labour, and have to account for  overhead expenses,  wear and tear of machinery .

The cost of product is fixed taking into account  the cost of raw materials ,conversion expense and profit margin.

Say ,if  the selling price of a product is Rs 100. there will be a profit of 5-7%.

Is it possible to run an industry without profit?

If you sell the same product  of RS 100, at Rs 5, then the demand will shoot up.

20 items would have been cleared.

Mr.Palaniappan Chidambaram is stirring the hornet’s nest.

The Harvard educated seasoned politician is mocking  trade and business. He is masquerading the disproportionate, unseemly factual and treating the industry with scorn and contempt.

Cutting down prices ,will have reflex and retrograde  effect.

It is not an alternative to retrenchment, lay offs.but an ambush to the entrepreneur  pushing him into a deep muddle, into a debt pool and a sneaky pandemonium.

He has volunteered to examine reduction in excise duty rates.

It is easy to preach than to practise.

His statement is similar to the Queen  Marie Antoinette of France legendary excesses  “if not bread ,eat cakes.”

He is advocating from a glass house, talking from a golden castle, sermonising from a diamond studded pedestal.

The Art Of Teaching.

Teaching is a demanding profession.

It needs lot of patience, tolerance, and a knack to tackle the young minds.

Modern  education ,right from the initial years , focuses on employment.

The science subjects take the prized position.

Information  Technology, computers, medicine, engineering bring in lot of money, which in turn leads to arrogance and  slightly licentious behaviour.

Teachers make good of the prevailing trend ,by conducting tut ions and coaching classes, thus preparing the students to fare well in the examinations.

This strenuous process renders the subject uninteresting, and forces the young minds to assimilate whatever is prescribed without proper understanding.

If we sell education we are ruining it.

Vidyha or knowledge should be imparted with  three essentials. purity, sincerity and enthusiasm.

The teacher and the taught should get involved into it, refresh the fundamentals,  delve deep into it,analyse the theory, indulge in practical solutions, and  discover new interesting details, interpret the compositions in simple format.

If Moon is todays subject, the teacher has to bring a replica of it, explain its qualities, shortlist its periodicals, its scientific effects , and narrate tales relating to it.

The specifications should be elaborate and at the same time illustrative,.

The master should keep his pupil in rapt attention.

A slight uneasiness or murmur is a sign that the mind is weaning out from the syllabus.

This clue should be taken care off at once.

The mind requires a change,a shift an alteration.

The Professor can modify his recourse , by entering in to conversations alien to the subject , yet related to it in circumventing manner.

Arts and Science  are important to  the modern world.

No discrimination, no distinctions, no demarcations over education should be enforced .

The wards should choose the courses they prefer .

Compulsions and rigorous training will have a cascading effect, a negative downturn,a swirling repulsion
