Most mortals think they would live

death is not the one they believe

life is impermanent and would disband

The permanency is assumed by the go -between

usurp, hoard and acquire with tries.

They accumulate material largess with great greed

as far as their intellect deciphers in a deed

mercenary affluence to them is by far the best

push to the oblivion the spiritual thoughts to test

dismantle the treasured values to a semblance.

They dash the ethics against the wall in a kind

fly high with immortality in mind.

not knowing their end is very near

hold to the bosom their life so tight

that way they live and to them it is wonderful.

My country is awe inspiring

the vastness needs exploring

the diversity indicates a disbelief

the people show a distant relief.

Prosperity exudes all realms

poverty reduces every term

yet they coexist in a trend

make the country invariably bend.

The gender discrimination is prominent

the men are very dominant

though the women play a role significant

they remain almost insignificant.

The religions stick to rituals not loose

with temples seen in all nooks

the marriages mostly are arranged

within a closeted community in a range.

My country as I had seen all these years

is inhabited by people with sharp ears

a slip of the tongue insinuates a flame

that rises up in leaps with every claim.

Yet my country is adorable

its shortcomings are implausible

but the ancient land invokes an astonishment

its cheer and stoicism provoke an amazement

Come summer
the sun rages high
the place burns hot
an interlude is on the way
found in the festivals
that abound and rebound.

To beat the heat
the people indulge in celebrations
seek a relief in the rituals
as mirth and rejoice divert
the strain of the scorching sun.

The festivals are colourful
with people attired in their best
the deities adorned with jewels
move in a procession with illumination
the devotees following the chariots
chanting with piety

The Missed Rhythm

The rituals and procedures
that go about in a marriage
sends an awe and at times frightening
where there is no importance to that is apparent
where there is a claim for the unseen or abstract

The faith in astrology is great in India
star and planets govern with authority
the other rally behind this cohesiveness
many alliance get detained by the expertise
which they call a science of great strength.

Astrology does command a respect
that depends on the person who practises
as many unlearned try to read the lines
that sound not exact but misleading
breaking many prospects in weddings.

Each event has to take place in appropriate time
when the stars and tithis are favourable
when the horai and kuligai lie specifies
while rahu kala and emakandam are not found
the good bodings go off in a spree.

India is ancient and traditional
still hangs on to the age-old customs
those that were seen in broad perceptions earlier
have narrowed done to strict forfeitures
that permeate all over with a movement not forward.

The Synergy -Truth

There be the believers

a group of conformists

who go by their faith’

believing in God

listening to his words

not that goes literally

but through the Holy Bible,

the Quran and the Upanishads

with the Buddhism in the later stages

the follow-up getting strong and staunch’

that people being termed as atheists.

Believing in self

listening to one’s own words

not that of the one literally

but that of the conscience

wherein there be a prompt

directing to that of being straight and upright

that of being true to self

the flow getting fine and firm

that people being termed as free-thinker.

Tracking and tracing

we do find a synergy similar

the one having faith in the Almighty

the other trusting the conscience

that be the target in focus

we find that all relate to the one

that being always Truth

with this and that

confirming one and the same

The Case Of Miracles

Do miracles happen?
Do they take place?
If so over a period of years
not over the course of day
or overnight as people say.

Miracles are seen by many
being the belief of all
if any had seen such
then they should be
revered and acclaimed.

Miracles belie reason
as they say there came
an apparition smiling
while gold and silver
fell from the skies.

Miracles are mind’s working
with a paranoid effect
going with hallucination
making the mind believe
the distractions too much.
