An Exception


The brother is spullo adamant
the sister very understanding
there arise a tussle all day
with the brother pulling
the toy she takes
while the older one gives freely
at times holds back her favourites
come there the parents
to appease the boy
force the girl to part
she always docile does so
with a reluctance whatsoever.
The brother then turns cheerful
goes about his way happily
while the older one settles
with another plaything to engage.
An attitude that prevails through times
the elder one extends a truce
the younger sibling wins over .
This might be the universal game
there are exceptions to every rule
as in my case throughout

.

Attitude Unappreciable.


Provoked by the behaviour

shocked by the attitude

chided my brother younger

who did all these with a know.

There being a strained relation

where I stand predominant

he picks up unwanted conversation

with the opposition of mine.

That not be only sufficient

he extends further affability

by accompanying the defying party

spending much time with him.

He proudly narrated the event

hurt to the quick I told him

that the amicable overtures

was not needed at any time.

Sister to you is important.

The man who has challenged her

should be kept at distance

not to be entertained with friendliness.

He walked away from me

not disturbed I kept my status

never would I do

if I were in your position.

The Poor Girl


The onus of the girl child

there being a push-off

than father hating her

for no reason whatsoever.

The girl born suffers all through

being cursed by the father

held with affection by the mother

not openly but in the inner heart.

She grows up with the years

second to her brother

who gets all the goodies

she being happy with the remains.

The boy goes to school

no matter he studies or not

the girl is sent to the primary

then drops out considering the family’s poverty.

The girl shares all the responsibilities

the years when she has to play

she spends doing household chores

even goes out to do domestic work.

The little salary she earns

adds to the family’s sustenance

with the father always half drunk

and the mother toiling in the sun.

With little education and innocence

she gets married at a tender age

bears the yoke of marriage

never would her husband share.

Pity is the girl’s life slogging and working

never could she rest for a single day

with the child on her way

praying that she not give birth to a girl.

My Angry Grandchild


Angry she is  very angry  all through.

knowing not what to do

knowing  not why she was so

sat worried all through the day

 

At dusk went to her slowly

still wild with burning rage

she  turned away hastily

not wanting to see  me at any stage.

 

Walked slowly back with eyes down

knowing  not how to appease her

thought of what wrong I had done

breaking my head as ow to satisfy her.

 

Looking at me with a raised head

she said in a voice soft and firm

you have gifted a book to my brother instead

not thinking of me in any term.

 

Unable to explain my act to the little girl fair

as she is a just a four-year old  child

placed her in my lap talked to her with care

saying that her book is on the way my grandangry childchild.
