Jai Ho


Rabindranath Tagore, won the Nobel prize for literature. His song Jana gana mana became the national anthem of India. It ends with jaihei, Jai hei jayajaya jayahei.

Jai Hind is the greeting of all Indians. Now Jai Ho  in Slum dog Millionaire,,written by Gulzar, and the music composed by A.R.Rehaman ,Has won the Oscar , the much coveted award of film artistes.

Yes , Jai ,means victory. It relates to triumph, a most ceremonial celebration.Rehman has made India proud by winning this award.  

India is a land of music. IF MUSIC BE THE FOOD OF LOVE , THEN PLAY ON,quoth Shakespeare. Music is dominant in every activity of life.  right from singing lullaby, to the weeping of the dead, there is music. The beats vary, the rhythm differ, the tone modulates, the cadence is  at different levels, the pitch is modified, and the presentation alters. , according to circumstances.

Music is innate in every Indian. He thinks music, talks music  and believes in music.Certain  Indian languages , have a  drawl   and a motion ,that speech itself is   similar to tender  music.Certain other languages , have a beat and notation that the talk appear to be a harmonic band. Few other languages sound chirpy and sizzling ,that they expose a vibrancy.

Notation, harmony profound feelings   and vibrancy along with voice modulation present  a heavenly music.

The power of music , is such that, it exudes happiness  in a joyful rhythm, it expresses sorrow in  a melancholic strain, it pours out profound feelings in dragging tenor, it vibrates a zodiac stir in the  beat of the band, it keeps good humour in  the kindred notes.

Music diffuses the soul and dispassionately divulges the eternal truth.

A.R. Rehman , has won the hearts of the people world over, as music outwits languages, outsmarts individuals, overwhelms culture, and out stretches boundaries.

Music is for all the senses, is for permeated atmosphere, is for all souls.

Play on to the world’s well being.

The Hand That Rocks The Cradle.


The fairer sex,as they are cordially addressed, have done immense work in raising a family, in building a nation, and formulating a society.

The women’s job , begins at home, similar to Charity ,which begins at home.The house has to be set in order, before anything could be accomplished.The family ,is a prime important schedule for the woman. The children ,are the apple of her eyes, and rearing them properly,with good nourishment, is to take care of their physical health, to cater to the educational aid, is  to look into the evolution of the intellect, and have a thorough insight of their social obligations,is  to evaluate the mental balance and well being.

This commitment takes much of her time. The oneness in the family, keeping the husband and children together ,is her main responsibilty. If they go asunder, then the chaos will lead to unimaginable terror.

Her career, comes next. To serve the family and also to  toil in the office ,needs courage and patience. Going ,by the saying “you cannot serve two masters”, the poor lady has to look into this ,as well as that ,to keep her going. This . she does well, and performs better than her male counterpart..Her income adds comfort and a little more facility to her family.

The commitment to the Nation, is her third score. Mostly, a few take to this course. Those , who opt for this part of programme, need extra energy and erudite skill to participate. Th ey excel in their duties and outshine in their performance as leaders.Indira gandhi, of India  was referred as the only man in her cabinet, as all her crew were dubbed as  chicken hearted . Margaret Thatcher ,was hailed  as an iron Lady. Golda meir , was known for her stellar performance as the Prime Minister Of Israel. Many others follow. but these are the outstanding ,which gush into the mind

The women ,though physically fragile, possess a strong mental framework. Can you imagine  the  theme of a family without  the lady of the house? It is the micro which acts on the macro. The atom becomes an element.The nucleus circumvents into a nuclei.

Divine Float.


The celestial couple Lord Subramania and his escort Deivanai had an outing in the Theppam of Thiruparangkundram.

The couple were decked in glittering jewellery,and clothed in colourful Kanchipuram silk.The water body or Theppam was lit with diyas. There was a display of fireworks,which added charm to the float.

The Nagarathar community of Tamilnadu hosted this divine festival. Prasadams were distributed to the devotees from the Nagarathar choultry.Nattukottai Chettiars ,otherwise called as Nagarathars,are known for their generous contribution to the temples.

The float was a beautiful event. The Divine consorts were kept in the float,with the Nagarathar community heads ,the chair person of the temple and the archakas,all getting into the make shift float.The temporary structure of the float looked  archaic , uneven and appeared little risky. The authorities of the temple have to get into the details and modify the float ,to suit the modern times . The risk factor should be eliminated. If any untoward incident  happens , it will  not augur well.

The couple were taken to the central mandapam. They went through three pradishnams . Then they were placed in the oonjal or swing.

 The temple singer or odhuvar sang hymns in praise of Lord ,followed by the recital of the temple Nadashwara vidwans. The singing and the music played by the vidwans were so enchanting and a treat to the ears and a solace to the mind. Aarathis were taken and the final poornaathi was performed amidst the chanting of Murga, Murga, Murga . The crowd  became ecstatic . The devotees were enthralled.  Sublimity took control of the scenario. After going through the Theppam thrice, the float came to  a grand halt.

It was an austere celebration devoid of ostentation. It was a grandeur  without artificial distinction. It was  celestial denouement filled with purity and devotion.

A Little More Magnanimity.


The best in us can be transcribed in many noble deeds and helpful indications.Being good at heart  is a loving  edict. But extending the generosity is a beautiful event.

Many of us are kind . Many of us are compassionate. Many of us are liberal. Many of us are large hearted. These are all but abstract condiments. Feeling is different from doing. Experiencing is alien from performing.

How many of us involve  ourselves in social emancipation?How many of us take up to help the needy? How many of us organise rehabilitation centre for the victims of natural fury?

Well, to engage in such humanitarian consideration, we do need a big background and loads of money.The minimum requirements  are a thought and the impulse to help others. The initiative dwindles , if we do not swing into immediate action. As the desire to help others crystallises  in our mind ,we must jump into it and   execute it. Deliberation leads to procrastination ,which in turn proceeds to denial.

A kind word to a child, a pep talk to an invalid,a caressing touch to a  bruised person, a gentle lead to the  visually challenged, an impressionistic sign language to the  hearing impaired, a writing module for the taciturn, and an allowance to the mentally retarded, will go a long way to create a congenial .carousing environment.

A gentle direction to the physically handicapped, a fresh attestation to the downtrodden, a multiple mandatory affirmation for the depressed ,will evoke a magnificent marvel and an extraordinary exhilaration .

Shall  we all try to effuse a little more magnanimity ,when occasions compel us?

The Peculiarities Of Life.


Life  is a rare gift .Living it fully,experiencing its values, rationalising its concept,and relinquishing from the ideals of it needs practice and  training.

Happiness at one instance, misery at another occurrence, contentment at one situation, dissatisfaction at another level,enthusiasm at one stage,fatigue at another background, make us ponder, hamper our progress and throw us out of balance.

Success and prosperity make us joyous.The sway is so abrasive, that at times we forget modesty and behave in a most peculiar manner ,as though we are the top king pins.

Stress and strain leave us disoriented.The blow  is too violent ,that it specifically batters our inspiration ,and we move about as though we are the most afflicted humans.

The excitement and disappointment keep on butting in  continue to cross our lives ,systematically check our frantic allegations , and inconceivably restrict our process of existence.

Leveraging the pros and cons of the peculiar syndrome of  life, we have to propound a valid report, a serene appraisal and a minimum exertion to acquaint ourselves with the quandary of survival.
