an illumination all over
with the lights bright
the oil lamps shine
the glow is beautiful
being not too bright
nor too dim
the darkness is dissipated
the brightness zooms around
the mind too sharpens
the thought of celebration
the happiness that surrounds
light up the mind with rays of hope
Diwali enhances the mind
enlightens the soul
as it diffuses darkness
ushers in a radiance
a festival of brilliance,
A close-knit community steeped in tradition
framed rules and customs of fascination
be the one of the gifts to daughters
being a strange practice and a little wonder
establishes a link with the mother’s family
found in the form of gifts during festivals really
while the parents extend it with affection truly
the brothers later go about with a duty effectively
the next generation thinks it a trouble strictly
depending on the longevity of life inadvertently
the custom continues without a break
mainly during Deepavali, Pongal and other stakes
an amount is fixed from the time of her marriage
rendered without a break till the end of her age
a token of love could we abbreviate it exactly
the Nagarathar community sticks to it religiously.

a small gift of love
with words of a wish
would extend a bliss
could not be explained
with wordings plain
could only be experienced
with feelings intense.
The bird squeaks
picks with its beak
peep out to see
her on the tree
perched there all cozy
she looks all drowsy
the rains are there throughout
could not move out
she squeaks and tweets
her mood is upbeat
being an imposed relaxation
she enjoys with a rejuvenation,
