Around The World In Eighty Days

Obama has completed two hundred days in office. A spectacular achievement ,which needs to be applauded. Achievement , in the sense, he has been successful in bringing out a renaissance in the economy, a new look in the health care, a centralised attention on education ,and a pinpointed focus on unemployment. He may have slipped on one or two occasions, but the overall performance is brilliant. His external affairs got an impetus , by his swift move around the world. He has visited so far, 14 countries. wherever he landed, his gift of the gab won the hearts of the people. His diligent approach brought him a roaring applause  from the diplomats ensemble.

The murmur ,the tax payer’s money is utilised for such worldwide sojourns, is heard very feebly. But ,to run  the administration of the United States Of America,a generous outfit has to be set aside . His oration in Saudi, followed by his speech in Egypt  ,were an effective  tool to win the rapport of the Muslims. The virtual animosity and hostility nurtured in the minds of the Muslim youth against the U.S, got dissipated by the friendly warm talk of Obama.

Back home, his fiery inclination to provide jobs was well received by the senate. There arose a question as how he is going to fund for the new employment when the economy is facing a down turn?He , with his staunch aides developed a programme  in the areas of laying roads, building hospitals, and schools. Infrastructure needs to be developed , to make the nation volatile and move in the right format. Health  ,was another factor that called his attention. He has done a wonderful job, by providing utmost care and world class facilities to patients both in and out.

The economy is making a  steady right about turn.AIG has made a neat profit in this quarter after the 2007 slump.A great mark that needs to be taken note off. 71 banks ,have been closed down by the regulators. It is a pretty dull dissuading  trend in the reviving scenario. But the shoe, when it starts pinching your toes , should be discarded.Never try to cut your toes to fit your shoes. Similarly the banks appear to be provoking thorns in the bush .They have to be eliminated , to transform the economy into a robust ,healthy one.

Obama needs all praise for his daring endeavour. His indulgence is comparitively riskier than the launching of a satellite. He has succeded so far. It is the initila days that pose a threat, but once you get acquainted with the nuances of the administration , and understand the machinery of governance, you can surely win accolades.

All the best Obama!

Singapore-Clean eh!!!

The encircling air around Singapore is highly polluted. The atmosphere resurrects a complexity in breathing. The environment is like most of the other  countries, posing a mild threat to nature. The ad prop litter free is a a malapropism. The streets are strewn with thin garbage bags, cigar butts, and disposable paper cups and plates. The penalty for being unmindful to cleanliness is 150 Singapore dollars. In spite of this heavy dose , I saw many incidents which impress ill on her surroundings.

First, I reconciled myself saying that I am in the midst of Jalan besar,in the criss cross junction of Serangon Road, and Orwell road, where coffee shops, eateries, and provision stores abound. But , later chided myself ,telling me that the most populated areas, should be the most well kept ones. A slight negligence  has set in, I feel. The sanitary and health authorities need to take special attention to keep the area safe for tourists. The quality of food served in these restaurants are far below the standard. The Plates and cups are cleaned ,but not to the appropriate levels. There is a fallback in the monitoring of the day to day to management by the civic body. I was frozen , when I saw large cubes of ice being unloaded from a lorry, and to make matters worse , the huge blocks of ice were hammered with iron rods. The ice finds its way into the restaurants as to chill the fresh juices and milkshakes.I resolved not to take any chilled juices till I leave Singapore.

The aftermath ,of a week in Singapore ,was a thoroug  run own.I was down with high fever, result of   severe abdominal upset. The sensitive intestine suffered very badly. I had nausea, vomiting ,and delirium set in. My physician was confused ,as to what have I contracted from Singapore. My breathing slowly turned to be heavy. I was subjected to incessant cough.I was whooping for a normal breath. My fever raged unabated. I could not swallow a spoon of water. I compelled myself to an ounce of hot milk.Out came the flow of liquid, with such force, that I stood terrified. What is going to happen to me?I chose a place , for a week halt -Singapore, a safe haven for travellers. But the experience I got ,is nightmarish. If it had been any other country, I would have taken safety measures, to keep me away from such relevant flaws. Just ,it happened to be Singapore, I took it easy, and I am paying for my light heartedness now.

I am still in the veil of exhaustion. My mind is absolutely empty ,as I find myself hard to cope up with my physical  depletion..A week in Singapore has cost me heavy, both financially and physically. The financial part can be earned. The disarray ,I experienced all this fortnight will leave me a wreck for months to come. Am I entitled to any compensation from the Singapore Government? If so ,inform me, I would gladly accept it

India -First to be Out Of Recession

An evidence that is circulated all over the world is that India is out of recession. China ,is also creeping out of the shadow. It is a true statement. Yes , India is marching ahead to progress, leaving behind other affluent nations. One must remember, that Indians are made of different material , This particular stuff holds the Indian equanimity in tough fists.India had been repeatedly attacked by the foreign invasions. Be it Mughuls, Portuguese, Dutch ,and finally colonised by the British, the Indian mentality remained undeterred . The invincible spirit makes the Indian go ahead, in spite of the destruction he meets. The Mughuls looted the riches of the land. The Portuguese and Dutch ,in a milder form amassed wealth by capturing land and indulging in trade. The British entered as shopkeepers, uncannily became the masters of the land, depleting the beautiful country of its resources, of its plentitude, and its exorbitant wealth. They introduced an educational system, which is still in vogue, making the citizens into clerks rather than rulers. The obeisance instilled by the English has humiliated the Indian ego. After 60 years of independence , the servitude still holds the population in grip.

All these broaches , disruptions and discomforts did not leave the average Indian disillusioned and crestfallen. He rose from the cinders , worked up against all oddities, involved in trade ,started industries, educated himself, holding a concentrated tenor in his language proficiency. He mastered the English language. There are few English writers who have surmounted the Indianwriters in writing skills. Most of the educated Indians excel in the usage of the language, much better than the Natives. It is this articulate tact of the Indian that is placing him high over all

The Indians were put on board by the British to Burma, Ceylon, Singapore, Malaysia, Indochina, and South Africa, to work on plantations, as these countries had a shortage of labour. The Indian labour toiled hard , braving natural calamities, putting up with unfavourable conditions, unmindful of hours of work, for the progress of the nations into which they were deposited as mere human animals. Once the Britishers left, these workforce had to endure disdain and scorn from the new rulers. Yet they sustain with the stoic spirit that is holding them together

It is this stoicism that has released India quickly from the worldwide recession. Other nations ,used to comfort and cheer, find it a task to outgrow this proposition. To the affluent the recession seems to be in gigantic proportion. Recession has hit them like a lightening. They are blindfolded. It has struck them like a thunder. They have been deafened by its sound. It has churned them as a Tsunami. They have been ripped apart. To realise the positive goal ,they are  struggling. But to the Indian, it is another episode. He has taken it i the stride . He is moving ahead.

Indian, I salute You.

Business To Progress

Prosperity of a nation depends on business.Metaphorically there maybe a different opinion. But , pragmatically speaking the financial flourish is the nerve centre of any country. To make things take the right direction, the government has to both give a long rope ,and a stiff regulation . This may sound ridiculous , impractical, and below the mark. Discerning forthright we can extend our plausibility ,by persuading the business oriented to enter into straight forward deals ,unmindful of the heavy cash involvement. The back up can be provided by the financial institutions with a minor charge over the asset of the company. This modus indicates freehand but with the patrol behind. This operandi will safe guard the interest of the Banks The transactions  will effortlessly push along earning a large proportion of revenue. Thus the trading  significance attains extra meaning and sensibility.

The Policing attitude of the government body should be gentle and genial. A harsh, impolite, rude monitoring will spoilthe show. Countries which seem to have taken to this culture are in the upswing. But Nations ,which huddle to the spoilsport temperment  are lagging behind in their achievements.A free hand to a child will raise her to glory.A kindly spirit and an encouraging talk will land us to the  region of success. A steadfast spirit, come what may should be the motto of the businessmen. Take ups and downs with equanimity. Face life with cheer and determination . Then success will fall in your lap.

A graceful movement will make us happy. A loving word will  soothen our spirit. A caring approach will heighten our active participation. This is what  a true businessman expects from his State.

An Ode To My Soul.

A strong gnawing pain,

A twitching pull,

A  bitter freezing ache,

A fluttering noise,

Where,I wonder?

A feeling of exhaustion,

Piercing heavy head,

Bloodshot eyelids,

Wheezing breath,

Bitter saliva,

How, I wonder?

A compressing heart,

Uncooperative tummy,

Aching knees,

Numbed fingers,

Why, I wonder?

The body withdraws,

The mind takes the fore,

The spirit holds the sway,

The soul rules the  dictum

When ,I wonder?

I hear the clarion,

I see the star

I feel the joy,

I touch the infinity

I feel the beatitude

I am awestruck

Museums In Singapore And Malaysia

The museums of both these countries are similar. They pose a grandeur of excellence. The history of these countries are more or less the same. But the presentation of the facts are ways apart.

The Singapore Museum opens up its repertoire by stressing the episode of a Chola Prince arriving at Tamasey. He queries his subordinates about the head of the animal which is lying in the area. They answer him ,saying that it is the head of Singa,or lion The prince names the country as Singapura. The show  of this particular episode is beautiful.

The Malayan Country as also discovered by a chola King. The Chola landed in Kedah. He must have ruled for long duration ,as there are depictions of temples  . The vimanas, and the gopurams are standing examples of the chola rule. The Hindus had a sway over the state for a long spell. This chola was referred as Kidaram Konda cholan. This impeccable truth is modified by the Malaysian government,to suit its whims and fancies.

The Natukottai Chettiars had roaring activity in both Singapore and Malaysia. They were into money lending business. They were noted for their integrity. They borrowed money from Chartered Bank and lent it to the Chinese. They charged nominal interest They lived in highly crowded hubbub. They led a simple life. They had their own method of accounting. They became owners of lands ,when the pledged property could not be retrieved by their clients. This banking community did much for the financial progress of the two nations. In the Singapore Museum ,a space is allotted to this community.Unfortunately no such reminiscence is found in Museum Negara.

The Portuguese invasion, the Dutch settlement, and the British colonisation are dealt with great attention. The Independence of these nations and their growth after is pictographed  in a chaste manner. The three communities, Malays, Chinese and Indians should move ahead in unison ,thus taking the nations to flourishing prosperity and thriving indulgence.

Singapore-Land Of Traders

On 26/July/2009, I landed in Singapore . It was a cool morning, with slight drizzle. The city was not fully awake ,as it was early in the morning. There wee a few joggers, taking their morning beat. Singapore was yawning trying to get out of the slumber. The weather was excellent with intermittent showers. The drive from the airport to the hotel was a pleasure. The greenery beside the roads, the sea flowing on one side, the tall bushy trees beckoned the traveller to the land of ecstasy.

This small country ,with a radius of 26 square miles, has been formed by the Chola kings, followed by the Chinese traders, the Portuguese invasion, the Dutch settlements and finally the Japanese attack all went out in a huge queue to create the small city nation. The port is the only natural resource that is available to this country. Other essentials, like water and power, has to be bought from its neighbouring Malaysia.Yet this little country is bustling with activity

The Singaporeans word of promise is profit. Commercialising time  is a remote sensation. But they do. they promote tourism to the maximum. All kinds of food are available but for a cost. all commodities are found ,but are expensive. Textiles fetch exorbitant money. sophisticated watches  electronic goods are flooded in the showrooms, malls, but the prices are alarming. There seems to be a highly snobbish big disappperception among the people. They do no manual work. they hire work force from India, Bangladesh, Philippines, Myanmar. These folks gather in one particular place every Sunday. On Sundays Singapore looks deeply messy.

The cleanliness , for which Singapore was remarkable ,is a ointment,as we see litters all the way , uncared for.The City has attained a gigantic magnitude,in this decade. The buildings are huge skyscrapers. Most look like a pigeon hole, of course with all amenities. The kinship and the amity is totally absent., It is money, money all the way.

I am reminds of the quote,

“water ,water, everywhere , no drop to drink,”

In Singapore it is mad rush for materialistic benefits, but the human spirit of compassion, and simplicity is absolutely nil.

A Quizzing Perplexion

I am in a quandary,

I am at cross roads,

I am confused,

I am  upset

I am  in troubled waters,

I am in scary woods.

I am in arid desert,

I am  atop the hills.

I issue no censor,

I deliver no disdain,

I show no anger,

I pose no threat.

I shun publicity,

I hate glamour,

I  shudder expense,

I defer no ill will.

I remain aloof,

I affirm composure,

I expect nothing,

Yet  , I am misunderstood.

I am perplexed.

I am plucked asunder,

I engage in quizzing ,

The deals I face.

Law And Police.

Police are keepers of law. They work for the protection of civilians . They strive to keep law and order. They patrol the area allotted to them by warding off antisocial elements.

But how many of them do ?

A    few officers and sergeants are diligent and maintain decorum and discipline. The majority misuse their powers . They create panic in the most calm areas, by indulging in attestations that invoke fear and apprehensions. The public are taken for a ride  by the police force. They are penalised for no fault . They have to pay heavily,if caught by the Inspector . If they raise their voice in protest , the officer canes them accuses of rude speech, and imprisons them. The civilian meted with such crude treatment , has to move about in shame. The bribe they take to cancel the case filed is quiet heavy. Apart from such illegal provocations, they also involve in other sacrilegious activities that should not find a place in paper.

The derogatory reputation they have earned has not registered a  positive significance in their style of approach. The unpleasant deliberations make people repel from the Police force. They normally get scared to get in touch with the Police, as it would engage a lot of time, and bring about a wasteful expense, and push in mental torture.

I read recently of a man being handcuffed by police on suspicion that he was trying to break a house, which was  his own home. The miscommunication has landed the man in jail. He produced his identity card, in spite of it he was imprisoned.

The man’s pride is hurt. He , if I remember right  is Gates who had returned from China. The Police sentinel is unmindful of the infliction they have caused. Yes , this is one among the multitude of cases they have mishandled. They remain untethered. But, what about Gates ?His affliction is tremendous. His agony is unspeakable. The molestation , he suffered , is unthinkable.

The Police go on. One day they will retire and slip into the fold of ordinary citizens. Then , they will realise the trauma, the rejection. Their heart will race in palpitation. Their shrivelling seductions will lead them to an infidel , nauseating , distraught composure..

Ambanis Claim Nature

Ambanis govern the Indian nation’s economy.Ambanis consider the national ,natural asset as their own. Mukesh and Anil fight over it. Is it not amusing?Does it not sound quixotic? The whole issue is malignantly ridiculous. It signifies a voluptuous appetite.

The Indian Government is screaming over the feud of the brothers. It has addressed the dispute as the economy is eld hostage by the Ambanis. It has rushed to the Supreme Court,to disprove the claims of the brothers. What a sad state of affairs!. This is a typical way of conducting business in India.Ambanis fit the business jigsaw exactly.

The Indian trade and commerce professed certain morals ,practised ethics , before the fanfare appearence of Dhirubai Ambani, the father of the fighting brothers.

Indian business and finance can be classified into two main epochs. The era before Dhirubhai can be termed as B.A. and after as A.A.The B.A was a modest age, where there was a few businessman-top level, and few business, focusing on textiles , Steel , cement. Public listed companies were less. The shareholders had absolute faith in the management and the later reciprocated the trust with bonus shares and handsome dividends. Industry was thriving , in a compressed structure as there were regulations to monitor the growth. There were minimum defaulters. The GDP was growing steadily.

In 1970 , the messiah of business Ambani hustled in with a magic wand. He floated  his companies with much  exhibitioners skill. His shareholders were treated with a silver spoon. The new era in Indian business dawned. It brought with it excellent results,  showed high speed in development, negotiated the loopholes in the strict regulations. It also derived an hideous suffix of anti in all its vibrations. It assumed a proportion which was opposite to every confirmed attribute. Anti legal, anti tax, anti government and anti trade, became the motivational spirit of a business man.The voice of the protesters to these attempts was silenced by currency or by inflicting physical bruises. Admonitions were quietened by these dons. The Government top gear was in the hands of these industrialists. A silent devastating revolution was underway. So long the Government was held captive by these big shots.

A sudden enlightenment is in the vicinity. The Government has slammed the Ambani brothers of holding economy as hostage, reads the news clippings.

The Ambanis are trying to usurp Nature of its bounties. They are not aware of nature’s violence , of its fury. Its toll is beyond comprehnsion
