The Elephantine.


The elephant
moves into the waters
goes to the middle
into the depth
looks around.

Seeing none
she swims, makes merry,
then straightens up
pours water over her
enjoys herself
the bath
stretches for hours.

The stream remains silent,
rambles not whatsoever,
as if in fear.

The elephant crosses
to the other side,
The waters turn murky.

All through the sojourn,
the lotus floats timidly,
the fish plunge deep,
the frogs  suppress their croak.

The buzzing bees and the
flying grasshoppers have disappeared.
The winds refrain from blowing.

Silence pervades.

Be it an
anthem in an apprehension
turns out to be  an homage
to the biggest animal.
