Plastic Everywhere.

Here a plastic, there a plastic,

Everywhere a plastic, plastic ,plastic,-goes the modern rhyme.

There was a convention in my neighbourhood.  The gathering were a batch of local environmental experts . The speakers were delivering speeches of how to prevent environmental damage.

Many reporters were jotting the main points , related to the issue.

My mind was raving about,as I had never been a proper listener. My eyes got stuck on the plastic podium, the plastic table with a plastic  vase adorned by plastic flowers. The table was covered by a plastic sheet.  Mineral water in plastic bottles were distributed to the  delegates to wet their throat.

The talk was going on,and speaker after speaker decried the use of plastic. I was amused. The situation and the core subject were  contradictory.

We dispersed for lunch. They had arranged a buffet. Hot soup was offered in a plastic cup. Plastic plates were  handed over to all of us.  We managed to push food with plastic spoons and forks. Then we moved to the wash basin to have a quick wash. Lo ! the  tap was a colourful one., made of plastic.

The afternoon session began, again there was a harangue about the demeaning qualities of plastic.

I could not control my laughter this time.

The message of  the convention  was lost. Talking one thing and doing the other.

My countenance changed into  plastic. My thoughts got stuck up like plastic.Plastic is overwhelming, as it is stepping beyond the approval limits.

The environment is the butt of such unmindful transgression.

Make others happy

A day begins with the rising sun.

The dawn brings cheer and liveliness.

As it advances, it proceeds to work, and the dusk brings rest and retirement.

As the sunrise, we have to radiate happiness around us.

We have to start the day with a smile, greet the fellow humans with grace, be it a milk vendor, newspaper boy, the gardener, and your neighbour.

This little gesture adds  life and good sense

While at work, be pleasant to superiors, and  be kind to  sub ordinates.

Show extreme attention to the customers, take care of their problems, and give a positive reply to their enquiries.

Back at home,  converse  cordially with  spouse,  extend affection to  children, and spend time with them ,throwing out work burden, and other pursuits.

These tiny acts and good turns  will bear a refreshing exuberance .

Happiness eludes materialism and emotional possession. To attain it we should extinguish craving and aversion.

Strive to spread happiness. It is an exclusive quality of life.

The Inimitable Idioms

Individualistic  implementations  are liberated form of behaviour.

The procedural behaviour, is different, is distinct, is  not a workable solution.

Certain characteristics of leaders , their mannerisms, their applications are followed by their coteries, unobtrusively and undesirably.

John .F. Kennedy had an amorous smile, and had an affable  personality. His approach won over the masses, and his speech held the audience spellbound.

Jawaharlal Nehru, was a Prince among leaders. He had a pleasant countenance and an impressive atonement, that endeared him to all strata of society.

Winston Churchill, though bearish in appearance , had a foresight and willpower that kept him above all. He was prolific writer, a keen statesman , historian and artist.

Abdul Kalam, the former President of India , with very ordinary looks  had a knack  with the multitude. He is an inspiration to the young minds. He is a personification of humility. His character is beautiful as his heart is righteous.

The inimitable qualities of these leaders ,made them stand above the crowd, and  made them conquer millions . They inspire feelings of wonder and excitement.

“The dream is not to own a crown. It is to be a king.”

State Bank Of India -The Lion and The Mouse.

The lion and the mouse, is a  short allegorical narrative  by Aesop.

State Bank of India  is a lion in stature., but  with the smallest heart. It has grown enormously, but the stimulus is negative. It talks much and does little. It boasts of being genuine, but in terms it is pretentious. It expresses affability, but it practises animosity. It reveals that it goes by principles, but  in shadow it  breaks all norms.

Its balance sheet propounds  details  of companies that have not repaid their loans. They amount to billions. The accounts of these companies propel  enormous irregularities. The  sanction of loans had been effectively  prompted. The repayment schedule has been purposefully adjusted. The aberration in settlement of dues have been cleverly camouflaged. These propositions have been voluntarily facilitated , as they belong to the elite, who are  running the bank and the finance ministry , in defacto.

Meanwhile, an entrepreneur, of modest means and sincere records, fails in his procedure of payment, the officials catch hold of his collar, prod and incite his equanimity, and render him  pshycologically irrelevant.

The broken man ,  after great struggle, makes the payment as called for.

The Bank’s hunger is not appeased, it wants more. The officials , once again start their merciless drive. This time, they  intend to kill him both physically and morally

The entrepreneur rises up  and seeks legal remedy.

There is a saying in Tamil.

“sadhu mirandal kadu kolladhu”, meaning,”if a genial person is provoked , the entire forest will be set ablaze”

Like the mouse, this man  is sure to come out of the entanglement , by using his prudence and goodwill.

The Lion, here metaphorically ,the great Stae Bank ,will be entrapped by its so called VIP constituents . It has  to be  pulled  out from the maze  by the  genuine entrepreneur.

Physical interpretation Of emotion

A dissertation of emotions , brought to focus the involvement of physical organs in depicting  various behaviours.

Emotions are feelings. They are what drive us and what drives us astray.

Emotions affect moods, moods overpower judgement, judgement changes decisions.

Physiological postures give us a cue of the intensity and impact of the feelings.

A lowered head is a sign of submission.

Down cast eyes reflect defeat.

Deep sunk eyes reveal sadness.

Squinting eyes lead to evaluation.

Staring means aggressive action.

Blinking shows mediocracy.

Winking makes you look witty.

Nosy points out to inquisitiveness.

Red cheeks display anger.

Cheeky discloses impudence.

Mouthy professes excessive talkativeness.

Pouting the lips allege displeasure.

Pulling a long face expose disappointment.

Biting the teeth expresses rage.

These are but a few classical portrayals of emotions  as reflected by the sensory organs.

Strange are the ways.

Strange are the ways of men.

Still stranger are the ways of God.

God is watching from above. The wrongdoers will be punished . The good will be rewarded.

This is what the Holy Bible says. This is how Bhagavad Gits interprets. This is the exact portfolio of the Koran.

Right. If God is omnipresent, why so much of horrendous activities take place, Why there is so much blood shed, so much rivalry, so much ill will, so much vengeance and so much atrocities.?

Right. If  God is omnipotent, why not he prevent such terrible actions, why not he stop man killing man, why not he bring  peace, good will. friendship and dexterity?

My queries  may sound critical, may appear radical.

I am not questioning the authority of God.

My argument is that God blesses the evil , by giving them opportunities, by providing them with all  material comfort, and permitting them to usurp  the rights from the rightful proprietor.

Men , who lead a blemish free life, who slog for the potential goodness, who refrain from telling lies, from cheating, from not talking about others, are mercilessly pushed to the corner , by the mercenary, greedy, snobbish, perfidious gang.

Why does this happen?

Is it God’s way of treating good ?

Is it God’s  method of promulagation?

Is it God’s procedural delay?

Confusion creeps in. My faith in God  is thoroughly shaken.

An Old Lady’s Economy.

Economy is a study of human behaviour as a relationship between ends and scarce means which have alternate uses.

I came across an Old Lady whose  economic policy was astounding  .She had no scarcity and she found alternate uses to available resources.

Her bank was her metal box. Her resources were the revenue she got from selling flowers , fenugreek leaves, that grew in her garden. She had cows at home. She did not sell milk, but sold butter milk and ghee.

She kept her sale proceeds of her goods in tiny baskets with covered lids. Each basket had a different colour, so she could easily identify them. The flower sale proceeds were put in a pink basket, the fenugreek leaves money  in a green one , the buttermilk income in a yellow kottan, the name given to the baskets  in her village.

Everyday , she counted her accruals, The expenses were met out from the revenue. She had a host of staff around her. They had to tend the cattle, take care of her garden and had to guard her sprawling bungalow.

She also drew income from her paddy fields. She collected the revenue., without any delay.

Her practice was to buy gold ,say about 250 grams  and 2  kilos of silver, every month. The balance of her profit was deployed in the upkeep of her properties. This she followed meticulously ,no matter the rise in prices of the precious metals. It was cash and carry system she adopted.

Her hard work yielded wonderful results. She had no calculator, no software programmes to compute her accounts, no auditor to compile details.

She was her own self proclaimed manager, accountant and banker.

She had the  safe room key in her small cloth bag and the metal box key adjoined to her chain round her neck.

Her economy was robust, healthy and strong. She had acquired enormous wealth.

Her investment acumen calls for attention. The simple economics ,she professed  was an ideal model to be adopted .

Erroneously Negative.

Madoff scandal ,its exposure and its harsh predilections on the investors make the already blood swooned economy into a hideous defunctive prologue.

Madoff was the top market maker firm in Wall street.and also had an investment management business.

It is the largest investor fraud ever attributed to a single individual.

Spanish Swiss, french and Italian banks have lost over a billion of U.S. dollars.

Madoff’s techniques are maddening. He paid bonus to his staff, when h could not repay his investors. His firm paid for the order flow, which was paying to a broker to execute a customer’s order through Madoff.

His business ethics is questionable. His firm was active in the development of NASDAQ.

Madoff’s performance in hedge funding was  beyond comprehension.

He did not follow the norms and strictures. he formulated his own alibi,.

He had a remarkable track record. His clients had a complete trust in him, He had artfully built an congenial atmosphere, by dispersing high  consistent returns,. He manipulated his high contacts , that most of his customers entrusted the family fortunes with him.In November 2008, when there was a collapse i, his funds were reported to be 5.6% above.

Madoff played amorously on the gullibility of the investor.

The list of his affected clients runs into pages. The amount he has defrauded runs into billions. The charities which had invested their funds  in his firm have got stuck up.

Madoff has been arrested.and  he is facing a trial.

His properties have been attached. The affliction is a big blow to U. S , in general and the wall street investors, charities and individuals in particular.

His perfidy has knocked the entire economy. He has evolvea novel theory to cheat his customers, He has done it methodically, carefully and built a   fair and favourable business momentum  and an investor friendly symbolism, then gradually withdrew a portion of the accumulation in  a phased, unpresumable diligence.

He has paid the price of greed.

The I in you

The I in us is always up in arms.

“It is I who did it, it is I who found it,it is I who spoke about it, it is I who worked for it, it is I who scored high, it is I who caught sight of it.”-goes on the I parody.

We take unusual credit for each and every single deed.

But if anything goes amiss, the I leaves us in a quick relativity.

We mumble,” Really, I do not know, I am not aware of it, I did not see”, so on and so forth, to escape slander.

Why this peculiar affinity to I?

The ego in us  centres around self esteem . It is an inflated sense of self worth It is one’s self.

We take pride in ourselves, in our things, in  our possession and in our capacity.

This is predominantly visible in our civic sense., in our attitude in common places, in our behaviour in  public offices, in our approach towards others.

We keep our houses clean , but throw the dust in the streets.

We restrict our spitting and shouting at home, but freely allow them in common precincts without any hesitation.

We forcibly push through the queue , to get things done,.We exhibit fierce conduct  and  tempestuous rashness.

The I in us shoots up , with  an unexpected tempo, that we tend to forget, that the I becomes You ,in the context of a convention .
