No More Mad Rush

Gold is lying over there uncared for!

Gold is strewn over there  afar

Gold is found in heaps and piles ,

Gold is thrown out  like broken tiles,

Gold  lies untouched by anyone,

Gold  brings lust to none,

The yellow metal lies  dormant and idle

The shining commodity  lacks sheen and bridle,

I go on with my untrue   false ramble

I wish it becomes a  truly real preamble.

A Desert In A Platter

Every delicacy is laid out  with great care,

Every entry is taken care off with attention rare,

Every possible way is chalked out with minute  tare,

All things are set in exquisite style calling it fair.

The stage is well set for the game,

The parties look for a medium to blame,

They locate no such disqualifications  to name,

They settle for a  compromise all the same.

Suddenly controversies and conflicts get ahead in a speed,

Rebellions and revolts race swiftly in a lead,

The finality draws to a close intensive bleed,

Succumbing to the  afflictions  of a strangling breed.

Bombshell and grenades cause a tumultous loud,

Shrieks and shouts  keep the land  in terrible cloud,

Collapses and fall downs attempt a consideration shroud,

The rejection of peace  and joy is felt  aloud.

The dictators raise a hue and a cry,

The revolters agitate for freedom and try,

The West  stealthily creeps in a sly,

Eyeing the oil  wells with a  shy.

The desert falls a prey to the  conspiracy ,

Its  wealth is robbed in high frequency,

The self proclaimed leaders  deal with a piracy,

Along with the Western assured tenancy.

The emptying of the platter is  swift

The treasure gets almost over in a regular  drift,

Oh! No! the oil wells keep on supplying   like a gift

Unmindful of the  turbulence and a wicked drift.

Precious Envision

Earthquakes have shattered the land,

Tsunami has  devastated the sand

Economy has bewildered  the band,

Demoralizing and disorienting all in hand.

Dollar and Pound   go down the crack

Yen and Yuan  slip into the back,

Euro and Rupee  fold into a rack,

All other currency follow the track.

World wide Economy is in a fearful limbo,

People everywhere are exposed to a violent tornado,

Countries are amidst a crusading crescendo,

Falling into broken pieces without much ado.

It is metals in a limelight hue,

Gold is shining in a yellow brew,

Silver  rising in a brandished true,

All other metals animate the cue.

Predictions go

Gold will clamber to $2000 by December 2011,

Silver will shoot up to $100 by 2011 closure,

Gold and Silver will go to the museums as treasure,

Where they will remain as art pieces  just for pleasure.

Street Fair Named Humble

Almost anything is found in the road fare,

Not only wears but also wares,

Not only snacks but also  dinner

Not  only play guns but also missiles,

All   apparently  posing absolute simplicity,

Priced  latently  with utmost  felicity.

Bargains go in a hectic range of  float,

The vendor   comes out with a  quote,

That  baffles  the   alert   buyer

Who hides  his  rising temper,

In a feigned  distraction,

Kindling the seller’s inclination.

There arises a verbal dual,

Keeping both in a gruel,

The seller  claiming too  much

The  purchaser  refuting such,

The rest  delight in the argument,

Procrastinating the settlement.

The tug extends to a  time,

Either of them unresponsive to the prime,

Lastly the giver of the goods yields to a limit,

The  taker  of the product  unwilling to leave the summit,

Comes out with a feasible tag to both,

Finally the deal  ends in a solemn oath.

A vendor In A Bicycle.

Long long ago , so long ago,

When the people were with no ego,

There was a  small  self made man

Who sold beautiful art pieces in  a can,

Cries out  by soliciting each and every household,

His voice made every one behold,

The glittering crafty skill,

Of  the artisans  frill,

A one to one admiration arose,

While the  buyers browse,

The vendor comments on the  pieces,

Quotes  easily  the prices,

In his familiar friendly  tone

Inducing the buyer to a  bargain shown,

Expressing an easy mode of payment,

 By extending a fair discount,

Summing up the transaction in a benign note,

Bidding adieu  to the  customers  with  a smiling dote,

Pushes  his  rattling cycle along the lane

Ringing his bell  in a rejoicing  plane.

They knew not the moderen trade,

Of malls and markets  grade,

Remained contented with grace,

Which kept all othere efface

An Ode To Scandals

Not a day dawns without a scam,

Not a night sets in without a scandal,

Day in and day out there are hundreds ,

Oh! No!  well over thousands ,

Which talk of a rigging and digging,

Which speak of a  manipulation and a negotiation,

Which harangue  about  hoarding and amassing,

Accumulating  undue wealth and distinctive property,

Becoming rich all in a wink of  a moment.

Corruption creeps and blinks   from every corner,

Turning east there lies the housing discrepancy,

Towards west there  emerges an insider trading leak,

Looking north a strong blow of bank anomalies strike,

Down south  a serpentine smash of Ponzi schemes wriggle.

All focus on successive trials of consolidation,

Linking up to an adventure of yearning ,

Leading to an unethical aspiration,

Of adding up illegal and illegitimate money,

To keep the coffers in an enormous  bulge and unwarranted glory

Economy And Inflation -Growing Together

Article first published as Economy and Inflation – Growing Together on Blogcritics.

Growth is a healthy phenomenon. If growth gets stagnated, the world would be in turmoil.  Recently there has been an unprecedented growth in prices. Precious metals have reached a new peak. Oil saw a hike and retreated.  The price of land and buildings is high. Last but not least, prices of vegetables and cereals are getting out of the grip of the average man.

Inflation is worldwide, as recession is global. The International Monetary Fund’s food price index has risen by 29% in the last six months. The high inflation on primary articles is more on account of supply side constraints. Prices of most staples have nearly doubled, while productivity and yield have risen marginally.

India , which is emerging as an economic force to reckon with, is struggling to fight inflation. The Reserve Bank of India, as always, is fighting a lone battle. Retail price of wheat in Delhi has risen by 90%, while production increased by 16% and the yield went up by 4.5%. Sugar prices have doubled, onion prices have tripled, and pulses have more than doubled.Prices are stubbornly high. A fall in prices is not seen in the near future.

In India , it runs so,

a kilo of onions costs Rs 65 ($1.44)
a liter of petrol costs Rs 65 ($1.44)
a bottle of beer costs Rs 65 ($1.44)

India practises socialism. Do not the above quotes substantiate its proclamation?

As the Indian economy grows, more and more people are moving out of poverty and joining the teeming middle class. The population is becoming self reliant as there is shift towards a low dependency ratio.  Twenty years from now there will be a rise in the working age population from 1022 million to 7812 million. India will have more mouths to feed.

The chance of achieving a double digit growth looks dim as food inflation is taking its toll. To harness growth and development the government should focus on increasing agricultural production.

Inflation Hits India hard.

Article first published as Inflation Hits India Hard on Blogcritics.

Inflation is at its height in India.

A kilo of onions costs 50 rupees (that’s about $1.10 in a country where the average per capita annual income is under $450).

Raw onion is the poor man’s side dish in India, but the escalation in prices has left him with no alternative: his diet is now only rice. The government, soaked in scams and scandals, is not capable of curbing the soaring prices. The political opposition is stiff and vehement. The administration is paralysed.

Parliament was not able to hold its winter sessions. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is in a tight corner. His ally, the southern-based DMK, has taken him to the verge of resignation. The Supreme Court, the highest judicial authority of India, is looking into cases of misappropriation of funds. The Central Bureau of Investigations is engaged in probing ministers, officials, and their aides who participated in the scams. In recent months there has been essentially no governance.

The disruptions have led to discontent among the people. They yearn for a change. But the choices are limited. The BJP, which was in power a few years back, is also not free from aberrations. Its drawbacks force the people to think twice.

There is crisis in every state. Andhra Pradesh is facing the Telengana revolt. Tamilnadu is in the grip of maladministration. Karnataka is in trouble, with an unstable coalition government. West Bengal had a spate of shootings and bloodshed a month ago.

The inflationary trend, which ranges from 12-13%, has led the Reserve Bank of India to hike interest rates.

The average Indian is feeling desperate. To survive, he needs an iron will. But, as always, he must struggle to sustain himself. He knows no happiness

Elegy On Globalisation

Globalisation has a great significance,

Which has impressed with deference

To a  terrible turn down of difference,

In the fields of economic reference,

Evolving a voluminous grievance.

The concept is a latest  addition,

To the already piquant rendition,

Of trade and commerce transaction,

Meriting an upsurge in the progression,

Of gain and profit all in an illusion.

The lead aimed at outsourcing jobs,

Relying on cheap labour throbs,

Projecting a high revenue snobs,

Working on unnatural robs,

Resolving to  an irrelevant sops.

The expected predicaments have misfired,

The established economy has inspired,

As a rational and principle  discipline is  required,

To condemn the   upstart  ambiguity acquired ,

In  the form of globalisation  that is most admired.

Well ,let us switch to the olden theory,

Of barter system though weary,

Confirms a progress  not too dreary,

Accepting the reality in a  cheery,

Promoting an entire prosperity.

Arithmetics Of Economy

All  arithmetic operations,

Baffles many  corporations.

Of business and government,

Leaving an astounding empowerment,

Of balancing and reigning,

Creating a profound signing,

Of a pro forma and a policy,

Including a trial and  secrecy,

Of profit and principle,

Establishing a  gospel,

Of truth and discipline .

Impressing an ethical  legitimacy

Of   revenue and transparency,

Measuring a standard deviation,

Of logarithmic calculation,

Founding a  translucency,

Of light and clemency.

In trade and administration,

Which works out a conservation

Of reserve and  regulation.
