Stabilising The Economy.

Economy is in the recovery path. There is a a slight turn around. There appears a cheerful outlook. There is a direction for a stability fixture.

The nuclear test  by North Korea has sent waves of  danger and signals of risk, that there seems to be a minor set back in the otherwise prospective outlook. The U.N and most nations have condemned the North Korean attempt. As the experiment by North korea is successful, the countries mainly U. S feels  little insecure. It is an acid test to Obama , who had called for destruction of nuclear weapons. It is a violation of security council says the U.N.

The 1990’s  was a period of dull gloomy paraphernalia .The economy was sinking . As the pressure  inthe propriety of finance mounted, there was a sudden uprise in the form of Information outsourcing. The export   of knowledge , the sharing of revenue, the import of jobs by the growing nations to the developed countries worked a marvel . The prosperity was in exuberance. The giver of employment and the taker of jobs were evenly happy. The exim policy was like a magical wand , though in a different spectrum. Usually , the exim policy was based on the fundamentals of  suppy of manufactured goods and  raw material  . the 1990’s perceived a transaction of  service.

The present stature calls for an acute motivational strategy, that of the regime of emission. There are three pivotal positions  in this regime.

1.Fiscal regime with quantity targetting.

2. Fiscal regime withprice targetting.

3.Monetary regime.

We have to transform the demand for money into the demand for public goods. As demand for money increases, demand forpubkic goods increases, which leads to  an enincrease in public goods. We may call this as anenvironmental automatic stabilizer.

A country adopts monetary regime of public goods, other countries have to automatically follow it up, leading  to a mitigation of international free rider problem. banks should hold emission reducers as foreign reserves.

So the next set up for the revival of economy depends on the regime of emission. We have to legalise the system of green house trading.to sustain the economy. A new avenue is on the anvil, to exploit it or to discard it ,depends on the government policies world over.

Keep A Lid On It

Keep a lid on it is a fascinating idiom, inclusive of all effective temperaments. It is a relative terminology , befitting all periods , brandishing all  products, enfolding all segments, wielding all systems.

Oil is silently going up. It  has reached 60$. The expectation is th

at it will rise up to 75$. But the weak economy is keeping a lid on it, thus retarding its hasty climb.

Gold had a unprecedented hike . It soared and surged, baffling human  etymology. But there was a smart disposal of gold by Indians ,who have a special attraction to the metal. This has made the bullion merchants raise their eyebrows. Again the principle of Keep a lid on it comes handy.

The stock markets saw an awe inspiring mandate a few years back. The sudden leap was dismantling , and dis proportionate. But it kept on shooting up. When it was about to boil over , the policy of Keep the lid on it started its shift. The frothing diffused , diluted and became  a filtered residue  of its copious overflow.

The jobs in the Information  sector had a magical maddening aperture. The young software professionals were much in demand. Their earnings were erroneously wholesome. The  infusion of  extrempore riches jckd up their status . They lost their heads, by giving way to un principled lifestyle and misconstrued the privileges  handed over to them. The outsourcing industry , was badly hit by the recession, thus the Keep alid on it was enforced. The thriving  society was shaken ubexpectedly. The reality has woken them up to the snaguinity.

Keeping a lid on it , is a remarkable theory that has lot of endowments to be practised. It  is an alarm that signifies  prudence and alerts us when we tend to indulge in lavish  spending, liberalised life style. It stops us when we incline to stray away from dogmatic implications and plunge into instigated horror.

Sweltering Heat

The heat is oppressive. It is burning, scorching and sweltering. The day ls like a burning ball of fire. The shine is blindening. It is a stretch of white dazzling light, that  makes seeing difficult, that renders the  vision  blurred The extensive elongation of  a strange phenomenon  of hot winds and unbearable hotness creates a distinctive unpleasantness and intolerable fatigue.

The months of April and May , usually are hot. But year after year, the weather is dominantly salubrious, getting warmer and warmer. The Mercury rises above 110 degree Fahrenheit. The land becomes  dull ,parched and dry. The total perception is that of an arid , withering hue. The vegetation is unanimously dust prone and present a pale complexion. The roads are dusty and extremely  ghastly. The people  are in an abnormal predicament of exhaustive fumigation and unsatiated  thirst.

They try to quench the longing for liquids , by consuming tender coconut water. The price of tender coconuts have zoomed high , proportionate to the temperature. They partake water melons, sip cane juice, fruit juices, and push in  a lot of plain water to beat the persipiration and dehydration. But , however much they drink , the outside temperature is so hot that they droop down tired and worn out.

It is not advisable to venture out. But , how long can one lock up at home? Each one has his own avocation. The hawker has to go about the lanes to sell his goods to earn his bread. The vendors have to take up the heat , to make a living. The labourer has to brave the high velocity of temperature to work up his livelihood. The office goer, though sitting in a plush air-con fitted cubicle, has to measure up the oppressiveness , to get his remuneration. The businessman has to set aside the burning warmth , to  look after his day to day affairs. A shortfall or break  will cause the ultimatum .

Hot or cold, dry or rainy, we have to move on. We do carry our daily chores , with a sigh , with a complain , with a mumble. Yet we go on  The world  waits for no limitation, no restraint , no eccentricity.

U.S. -Double Faced.

The fraility and the frigidity of  United States Of America , are well exposed in their stand towards Sri Lanka and Afghanistan, the most troubled centres in Asia.It holds a restraint and speaks out on moral grounds on the casualties of human lives. But tends an apology on the air strikes in Afghanistan , killing hundreds of innocent children, men and women.

Why this double standard? The Afghan government is well equipped , has well trained army ,and has an evasive knowledge of the internal crisis. It can well take care of itself , without the western interference. The Afghan President , Hamid Karzai, got the recognition without the western opprobrium.

Obama should evolve an exit strategy from Afghanistan.Air strikes ,warfare and in fights are not the solution for the elimination of Taliban.Afghanistan, is a conglomerate of tribal. Negotiating , is the best principle  to wade off terrorism. The Taliban , are estranged from society, have taken a deviated digression from normalcy, have taken up cudgels against innocence, in their claim for supremacy. A patient approach, an attentive hearing, and a slight lenience will bring about the much awaited peace and goodwill.

U. S should hasten to pack its bags from Afghan and maintain a diplomatic ,ethical ,non interfering attitude .This will definitely improve the scenario and restore normalcy.

Polling In India

India , is going through  a normal election spree.,sounds abnormal, as Indians are highly emotional and politically inclined,. Parts of the country  have gone through   a phase of tense polling. The rest of India , has  set the electioneering process  till May /13/2009.

Years before,  the campaigns were feverish, the ramblings were  loud, the promises were high, and the expectation was above normal. Now , there is no such combustion, no misty provocations, and very little anticipations, as the people have realised the truth, that  whoever comes to power, becomes a corrupt entity, a self conceited representative of the people. Mind the catch “self conceited representative of the people’. Selfishness takes the upper hand pushing the community to oblivion. The excess respect , they show, during the canvassing period, becomes a farcical cognisance after the election  .The material surplus they amass, the rapport they acquire, the power they grab , after getting elected makes them superhuman, that they suspend their animated touch with the commoner. They  postpone similar moderation , till the next election.

This ruse has worked out well for the parliamentarians all these years , till sixty two years of independence.  But this time ,the trick has lost its glamour , precisely its craftiness, People, after a deep slumber for sixty years, have realised  the gross deceptions of the politicians. ,recognised the impertinence of the elected Representatives, ascertained the cantankerous advances of the bigwigs. They are unusually keeping  a restricted movement. We perceive no high drama, hear no shouts of joy, experience no precinct of thrill and ecstasy. Everything is quiet, simple, calm ,and sober. This epilogue is a rarity, an oddity and a serenity unexpected , and unnerving.

Politicians fooled the crowd all these while. They can  play the fool for certain years , but not all round. The disillusioned Indians , had been a butt of the political parties confirmations so long. But , lately have come out of the frenzied world , with a refreshing facade and a reverberating jaunt.Their emergence from the cocoon of ignorance , and from the  world of vile ,vicious , corrigibilities , would place them in a pinnacle of supreme efficiency and  confer on them  an  elegant ethical emancipation.

The results are of no issue to the electorate. The hitherto rejected people will propel and usher a rule  of justice, a reign of impartiality and explore a realm of reverential cognito  . The Indian dream is taking shape . It will transcend  smoothly and traverse through potholes and bumps with ease and merriment.

Nothing Doing.

I am always thrilled to hear this phrase “Nothing doing.”It may sound very authoritative, and may invite displeasure. It has a negative connotation. But ,I have got used to this usage right from my childhood.

I was born to a strict mother. her discipline was not anything simple, but more rigorous than a military perception. A day always began with her tough routine, Right from waking up  in the morning, to my retirement in the night ,  I was subjected to a severe schedule. The day started with completing my homework, practising my musical notes, followed by working on my bharatanatyam jathis and bhavas. Then ,I was pushed to have a quick bath. While coming out ,I was dragged  by my mom to do up my hair, powder up my face , stuck bhindi, then placed flowers in my short plait. I was led into the dining hall, made to eat my breakfast, gulp some hot milk, and was  put in the car ,driven by an aged chauffeur,to school. Any remission or commission would be discarded with a phrase “Nothing doing”

Again in school, I had to undergo similar prescriptions. The teachers and nuns were my mother’s good friends. So the behaviour was as much oppressive as it was at home. A little distraction would bring the roof down. A little slip in the rank would create a pandemonium. A little truancy would bring hell. “Nothing doing ” would be the chant of my school teachers.I completed school in harsh terror.

College , I thought would have a different environment. It would be a place for more liberties , more personal development, and more individual outlook. But , my feeling was dismally wrong. My college days were even more suffocating than my school days. My Principal , happened to be a dear friend of my mother, very close to our family. There was no escapade from her watchful eyes. her eyes would be following me, wherever I went, even when I had to go to different buildings in the college ,for different classes.  I preferred to sit in the back benches, and was up to some pranks for a a fortnight, when the Principal was out of town. Once she came back , I was summoned and given a stern sermon, The favourite phrase ” nothing doing”, crossed her soliloquy often. I came out of her office with down cast eyes . On my return home, I was  taken to task by mother.” Nothing doing “, she cried at the top of her voice.

I walked out with saddened spirit. What have I done ? Why this ado about nothing? My mind kept prodding, my heart ached , and my eyes glistened with tears, I bit my lips, in anger . Blood oozed out.

Looking back after 30 years , I feel sorry for my ,mother, my teachers and my Principal. Why did they act so hard, so harsh and so severe.? They earned the dispeasure of their wards. A kind word, a pep talk, a jovial shimmer, a twinkle in the eyes would have brought immense results. Nay , these were not there in their lexicon.

The Culture In An Individual

Culture is referred to as an ideal of individual human refinement, according to Matthew Arnold  English poet and essayist. It is a pursuit of total perfection.Culture is reflected in the figures of speech, in the images that make imagination possible,in the artifacts that we create, in the media in which we pour our expressions.

We are inclined to think that culture is embodied in songs, music, cuisine  films and dramas. These are external manifestations. The internal development ,the inner refinement, the intrinsic value of behaviour, attitude, taste and  speech  disclose true culture. It is the essence , the finest crystallisation of the ways of the people.

Culture is well exhibited in the modulation of the  voice. A soft sweet tone enhances the  personality. The aspect  is found in the  method of speech. A smooth and firm articulation lifts the image. The attitude  is reflected in  the gait. The impressive walk raises the appeal. The impression is delivered in the expression. A twinkling curious look adds charm. The bearing  is exposed in the dress. A neat  attire gives an efficient drift. The stead is portrayed in the posture. A good stance improves the quality. The manner  is depicted in the habit. A fine disposition recuperates convention.

Culture is  an outlandish  comprehensive model of impulsion. It distinguishes the ideal from the ordinary. It discriminates the excellent from the mediocre. It differentiates  beauty from the plain. It  contrasts homeliness from offensiveness. It discerns pleasant from hideous. It segregates embellishment from blemish. It sets apart amity from abhor.

Culture in an individual makes him an idealistic person. The spirit of the man is extolled.  The goal of his ambition is realised. The target of his  exaltation is achieved.

The World hails him as

Here lives a Man with soul so pure and so enlivened.

A Day Out

Today everything turned out to be different.Morning saw a bout of showers, very unusual during this part of the year. As the day advanced, the temperature did not increase, another peculiar symptom.Sundays ,are rest days for  me,for that matter almost all days are same to me, No work, no apprehension, no agitation, no palpitation, no hurry, and no worry, mark  my daily chores. It is calm, peace , contentment that go to make my routine. Kindly do not mistake it to be inertia. It is a simple life, lead unnoticed, in a small corner, willing to help out the really needy and desperate.

I am deviating from my track, I am supposed to talk about my day out. This appointment is another dissimilar conduct of mine. Going out is the most unpleasant thing for me. I would prefer to sit at home and spend hours together reading subjects that interest me, listening to music which lifts me aloft and do some writing, unmindful, whether it makes sense or not.

A very fanciful  prompt pushed me to dine out today afternoon. My husband was curious and looked at me with disbelief when I put forth this idea. He put me into the car ,and drove to a Hotel at once, for fear that I would change my mind . While we e were having  lunch , a burly looking man came and sat beside me. I ,as every woman feels, slightly pushed to the corner of my seat. He opened out, crying Meena “how are you?. It is nearly 35 -40 years since I saw you ‘, he blurted out. ‘As you were walking down the aisle, I recognised you.I could not resist calling you, then you crossed me without a slight recollection of my identity. My brother , beside me , confirmed that it is you, so  I rushed towards you.”

I felt a litle displeased with myself. Cursing my memory. I looked straight into the eyes  of the two men, took a deep sight.” Oh ., I got it “, I shouted in glee. “You are Farroq and the other one is Haniff.” We all broke out in  laughter. The  memories of my school days gushed in . Haniff , the younger one was a Tom boy, Farooq was a milder of the two. They recalled my Bharathanatyam recitals in school, my elocution  skill in inter school debates, and innocently queried whether I dance now? I wanted to bang them both, as now I feel a gnawing pain in my knees, and stagger to walk. But , I refrained from doing so, as all the three of us were carried back to the days of our childhood. We were totally oblivious to the fact that we have become grand parents, and for an hour revelled in conversation about our school. about our pranks, about our friends.and about our teachers ,who have taught us and sculpted us to become responsible citizens.

We finally decided to meet often . I became cheerful after the meeting. My husband , the worldly wise ,commented ” I can find a sea of difference in you . You appear rejuvenated. That is why , I ask you to come out and meet people. But you always refuse. “. I  butted in saying , Well it is easy to preach than to practise”. The day unusual became usual, as we started our wordy dual.

Paradise Lost.

Milton epitomises man’s disobedience and the loss of Paradise in his epic poem “Paradise Lost”

Satan revolts from God and draws with him a legion of angels. God drives him out of Heaven along with his crew and places him in the great deep hell.It is a place of deadliest darkness and utter chaos.

“Of man”s first disobedience and that fruit

of the forbidden tree, whose mortal taste,

Brought death into the world and all our woe.”

Milton”s Paradise Lost is being enacted by Modern Bankers.

The banking community was in an enviable status before 1930.Financial empires were built on strong fundamentals. Certain banks were based on fraud . The competence of the bankers , their influence in the society, their high ideals ,placed them in a pedestal. The profession was regarded as  a  fine vocation, with promises of lucrative  remuneration and resounding success.

During depression , the  banking system envisaged a great fall . Regulations were set in. It came under tight ropes. It became a less interesting profession. Bankers shied away from liberal lending. This period of severe security saw a rise in economic  prosperity. The growth was spectacular .

In the late twentieth century, again Banking had a radical transformation. The liberalisation found its existence. There was an enormous activity, hustle-bustle,and the industry exploded.

Anything above normal, anything exceeding its capacity, anything that is over exposed comes to a stunning halt. The recession has  set across, the meltdown  has sidelined the  industrial progress, has effaced trade priorities.Currencies have slided down,,commodities are fastly going up and  hastily. falling down . Banking has become a boring industry says Paul Krugman..

Banking ,like Satan , has pulled with it a legion of other industries and trade into an abysmal darkness. Satan tried to mend his ways to restore Paradise. The Banking sector should deliberate upon a serious financial reform to regain its fiefdom.
