Navigating through a crowded street in my home town, I found the most detestable practices in its full form.
The street was a hub of trading activities,
Lorries and go carts were plying up and down, unloading fruits, vegetables, coconuts and groceries.
The load men were spitting on the road, the drivers smoking beedi and cigarettes, and the female vendors also added to the disarray by spitting betel juice.
The whole area was messy, strewn with vegetable left overs The stray dogs and the loitering cows were having a sumptuous feast, feeding on the discarded vegetables and fruits.
Dogs looked shabby, with bruises all over and the cows were smelly and malnourished.
An important commercial area looked so ghastly and horrible.
Is it advisable to buy and sell the consumer goods in such a stinking unhealthy environment?
When complained ,the health authorities turned a deaf ear to the pleas of the citizens.
They are appeased by the handsome give outs by the shopkeepers.
In the milieu, individual satisfaction overwhelms collective discontent..
