Reading fast through the novel
she skipped pages
that of description
telling about the places
delving deep into the characteristics
not only of its physical features
but also of its cultural activities.
The rushing up of the pages
would take her to the story part
but the other information
would be let astray
The beauty of the novel
lies not in its story content alone
but also on the language most
as well as the presentation in tact
wherein comes the portrayal superior
and the characterisation intrinsic
that get entwined with the plot in a seam
and the theme gets elaborated with frills
with a narration and unravelling lend a binding
which go to keep the reader’s involvement
and takes him across in a tide far and near
great and pleasant in a manner perfect
.
Bee And Me
As I was closing the window
a bumble bee entered in
I noticed her not
she did not have the slight of the closure.
Both of went our way
I did not hear the buzzing
being occupied otherwise
She did not see me anywhere near
so she went on humming all the time.
When the night came to a still
with the external silent
and the internal not so quiet
as could the snores be heard
her sound became vociferous
Got up from my sleep
walked all over in a partial wake
switched on the lights
saw the bee flying here and there.
At once opened the window
but the poor bee could not find its way
It took nearly an hour for me
to drive the bee out
finally bringing peace to both.
Walk And Talk
The walk and talk
gave a surprising shock
as they revolved round a block
a beautiful dock
that was under a lock
where people do not flock
being once a place that rocked
with fun and mock
but now it being a haunted stock
where we hear no knock
now very much silent as a dead cock
as its survival comes under the clock.
The Rains Competitive.
Rains poured all day.
It poured all night.
The day rains were friendly
going with the city
disrupting none
disturbing none .
The night rainfall was competitive
coming down in force
not very terrible
but very minimal.
The rains turned a delight
helping man all out
making nature look beautiful
refreshed and glowing
.
The Buy And Sell
Days Come And Go
Days come and go
but to me they come
but do not go easily’
putting me to work
taking the most out of me
they never leave me alone
nor give a wink of rest.
I mean the mind
as well as the body
but the latter takes a break
by relaxing on a chair
sipping a cup of hot tea
while the mind keeps on thinking
never does it go on sight-seeing
but always deliberating and wondering
What is it all about?
Why should it keep me so occupied.
I do not know for sure
but have to go on with it
or else it would kill me
for being idle all the same.
Lot of Everything.
The River Ends Up.
With extreme joy
from a small hole
she jumps up like a toy
with a delightful goal.
She gushes out in force
falling on the land
runs away from the source
singing and dancing with the band
Crossing the villages and towns
and the cities in a stretch
she slows down gradually with a frown
weakening through like a wretch.
The melody of her song
turns a sob as she runs
carrying with her the throng
of waste and dirt and thorns.
You may wonder she be.
You and I know her well.
She is the river whom we see.
Oh! she flows through hell.
Indians At Loggerheads
Went back to India after a long time.
Setting the house and sprucing it up
took a few hundreds of rupees from the account
in case I needed to buy things
as tomorrow being a Sunday.
The bank staff looked at me with disbelief
I knew not for what and why
coming back home my friend called
We had a long chat over the telephone
She said that a kilo of onion costs Rs 90.
She went on with prices of other commodities
where petrol price has been hiked
a litre costs RS 83 and kilo of rice 60 Rs.
and LPG cylinder costs 500 Rs.
Hearing nothing more I glanced at the currency I had.
What could I buy now with the money in hand.
I deliberated and chid me for being so careless.
The value of Rupee has gone down day by day
with the dollar going up and up
the Indian currency has fallen from grace.
With the currency sinking very badly
the economy getting near to death
inflation rocking high up reaching the skies
the Indians stand aghast at their governance
which has plundered the country to the most.
The opposition blaming the ruling party
The Prime minister accusing the main opposition
The scams and scandals that wreathed the country most
stand the tests nakedly and justifications clothed
with files lost and evidences disappearing.
The Finance Minister preaches from the podium
asking people to be patient blaming the Reserve Bank
while the retiring Reserve Bank chairman calls his institution
as a baby step organisation allowed to take few steps
piling one assault over another pushing the people to death.
The Reserve Bank Governor bids adieu a day ago
saying that if the Finance minister wants to go for a walk
let him walk alone in the financial abyss leaving the Reserve B
ank
while the Reserve Bank would continue to exist protecting the rights of people.
Where is India going with everyone at loggerheads?
A Woman In The Pavement.
Sleeping on the pavement the whole night
with half filled stomach and thirsty tongue
got up when the sun shone on her face.
It was broad daylight with the town picking up the day
as crossers were making most of the day
by going this way and that way
with a frenzied hurry and in a dizzy trend.
She got up fast gathering her belongings in haste
moved over to the other side of the road
sat there looking at the world with hungry eyes.
Watching she did for long and cursing her state
as none of the passers cast a look or gave her a dime
The world at large has so many thoughts and actions
and this little woman finds no place in its shelves.
Thrown out into the pavement for very long
her mother having gone years ago
she as a girl found her place out
lest her step mother would ditch her down.
On the roads the little girl grew into a lass
now turned into a woman still helpless
Are we to blame her for not finding a roof?
or are we to dislike
ourselves for not giving her protection.
