Thirukarthigai.

Karthigai , is the festival of lights ,in South India.

This ritual centres around Lord Subramania.

Thiruvannamlai, the abode of God Arunachaleswar, is the cynosure of all eyes , during the Karthigai rejoicement.A gigantic depam is lit , and the Lord is taken in a procession,around the hills.

It is called as Thiruvannamali deepam.

Millions gather to watch this colourful ceremony.

The air reverberates with the frenzied cry of the devotees, as they hail Arunachaleswara.

.Almost in all temples throughout South India , akal deepams are lit,and chokappaan is burnt, pointing to fire, which constitutes one of the five elements of life

.Ladies offer prayers at home, and decorate their houses with eye catching kolams and deeyas

The entire house is spruced up.right from the basement to the attic .

Old , unusable and unwanted things are brougt down and disposed by setting them ablaze.

This practice, is an obeisance to fire, which constitutes one of the five elements of life.

This large scale illumination denotes that the external light reflects the inner self It is a metaphorical allusion to Wisdom which radiates the mind,and compassion which extolls the soul .

The anomalies in the judgements of DRT is extremely painful to the companies.

The modifications in the RBI one time settlements are too many and too difficult to adhere.

The stipulateded time is too short,, the procedures are confusing , the bureaucratic behaviour of the banks is suffocating,and the inhuman sneer of the DRT is humiliating.

As ,in all government offices, Corruption and bribery , are predominant in DRT.

The Presiding officer, the recovery officers, the inspectors and the sub staff , expect a sizable amount to conclude the case.

The appeal, however meritorious, however, much based on factual, however genuine in its submission, wil not find a positive judgement.

But a petition, extremely out of context, based on blatant lies, a compound of fiction and falsification , will end up triumphantly, for reasons best known to the judges, who have taken an oath to act without prejudice on Holy scriptures like Bhagavad Gita, Bible and Koran.

“Satyameva jaya dev” Truth ever prevails is the clarion call of Lord Krishna.

“Asatyameva jayadev”.Untruth ever prevails , is the tall claim of DRT.

. With the enormous powers vested on the tribunal, it can identify wiful defaulters from genuine failures and pronounce judgement accordingly.

Industries have failed in their repayment, but the DRT’s have to go beyond its circumvention.

Why have they failed ?

Did they swindle?

Did they lose ?

Was it due to mismangement?

Did the banks aided them with adequate finance and at the appropriate time.?

What was the rate of interest the bank levied on its advances?

Did the bank give them another opportunity?

Did the bank meted out unbiased treatment to the so called powerful industrilist, and the simple modest entrepreneur.?

The DRT , has the infrastructure, it has the man power, it possesses the money vibrancy , as it is backed by the Finance Ministry ..

It has to establish truth and codify a congenial industrial climate.

The officials should rise above the frailties of money , power and rank, and give out a verdict to make India shine and emerge as a super power.

Will the DRT respond?

The heart of economy is racing, and pounding like an athlete.

Palpitation has set in. There will be a sure nervous break down.

I recall . the rhyme,

everywhere a moo, moo.

Old Mac Donald had a farm.

A curious analogy though,, the global economy which is obsessed by surprises and apprehensions, is akin to Old Mac Donald’s farm

Global economy has clandestine eruptions.

And on it , there are a bear and a bull.

with a gobble,gobble,

here a gobble , there a gobble

everywhere a gobble, gobble

Global economy has volcanic eruptions.

The Bubbly Bubble

A mild relief and a gentle vibrancy prevails.

The stocks have risen worldwide by a margin.

Christmas will be in thick of joy and merriment. as economy is being given a face lift.

Finances , as it looks , are very heavily made up, with bail out policy , stimulus packages and other perquisites.

In U.S auto makers , will get their share of rescue funds.

In India , the overseas mutual funds have returned, the markets had a brisk trading.

There is a temporary respite.

The bubble ,is slowly getting inflated by artificial measures.

Will it sustain? Will it reinforce? Will it race ahead?

The sustainability is very low, as the economy is still very shaky.

The reinforcement , will take off, as many proactive measures are leveraged.

The racing ahead will be more pronounced, initially, then slowly drag and end up in an affirmed limp.as there is virtually nothing in the receptacle.

The empty bowl is being filled up by the tax payer’s money.

The lobbyists and politicians rattle and prattle , as though they are striving hard to resurrect economy.

The unfathomable peril has yet to be deciphered.

We have seen only the apparent , the virtuosity is appalling.

Rejoice Rebuffs Remorse.

Media, made a significant contribution ,in publishing the news about Karanunidhi’s family ensemble.

They carried a group photo of estranged Marans looking cheerful, with brothers,Alagiri- Madurai chieftain appering joyful , Stalin – the sitting Minister heaving a sigh of relief with father Karunanidhi beaming,and with mother Dhayalu smiling.It was virtually a perfect disposition of rejoice.

A beautiful photography, giving expression to all positive sentiments as proposed by the top family of Tamilnadu.

But the picture , lacked the most required gesture, that of remorse.

Three innocent lives of promising youngsters, was plucked by the demonstrators devilish behaviour at Dinakaran Office in Madurai, last June.

The parental grief, the anguish of the family, the truama of the brutal beating the three young men encountered, while laying down their lives, will never be reported by the media.

The intensity will not be transcribed, will not be recorded, will not be brought to light , as they belong to ordinary folks, who supported their parents and who earned their livelihood by slogging in such demeaning offices.

Remember ,as splendour brings in harmony, grief too heralds unity.

The story of “The Three Bears” . crossed my mind as,. I noticed.the picture of these celebrities.Father bear, Mother Bear and the Baby bear, had a life of their own , away from the multitude, in a make believe world of fantasy.

This unusual reference, is brought in , as a humorous interlude to heighten the emotional impact by means of contrast.

Buddham saranam kachami , unwantedly keeps on ringing in my ears, nagging my mind, setting it to a discordant upbeat.

Bonus

Bonus is bounty in Latin.

It is something extra given or paid in addition to what is usually expected.

This is how the Dictionaries define the word.

It is a disbursal of the profit or rather sharing the excess.

Merill Lynch chief executive, John Thain, demands 10 million dollars as bonus for the year 2008.

The company has made a loss of 11 billion dollars.

Most of the employees face retrenchment.

The share value has gone down by 73%.

Bonus , makes good sense. It is a progressive practice. Rewarding,the employees for their prowess. and for their hard work is a right predilection.

But the demand by Thain ,lacks moral debenture.

Merrill Lynch , will come under Bank Of America., and cease to exist as an independent company..

Thain , entered the scene when the going was dismal,had pushed the brand, kept the company alive, and restrained its bankruptcy by negotiating with Bank of America.

He has received heavy pay for his work.

His tall claim seems atrocious. It is comparable to the act of seizing whatever you can from a burning house.

Thain ,however much an efficient executive , defies justice,deputes greed,deforms economy, denies sense and defers idealism.

Thain has dwarfed himself.

Face the music

‘If music be the food of love ,then play on, give me the excess of it’ bids Duke Orsino, in Shakespeare”s, Twelfth Night.

Excess of anything , be it music , food, drink , money ,love, prompts sickness.

The appetite gets surfeited, the interest disappears,the love wanes,and the glamour fades.

The global economy is facing a turbulence.

There is unpredicted sullenness, unprecedented stiffness and unlamented sorrow.

Governments world over , are trying to pull the broken ,badly beaten economy , by providing rescue programmes.

A resurrection is much expected.

But , it is not going to happen.

The markets are waxing and waning like the Moon.

We have to face the music.

Stimulus Vs Corruption

U.S has announced a Bail out of 700 billion dollars.

India has offered a stimulus package of 4 billion dollars ,which is 17000 crores in Indian Rupee.

Rescuing the economy, is an applauding insinuation

Growth stimulus and Fiscal stimulus have received praise and criticism.

The markets have given thumbs up to the package,as it would push demand and have a massive impact on growth.

Wall Street reversed early losses and closed sharply higher on Friday 5/12/2008,hoping that Washington will again step in to aid the economy.

The pick apart ,is will the market sustain this upsurge?

A malady , physical illness , in this context, is to be treated with diligent care and meticulous attention.

A medical practitioner , has to diagnose the cause, read the history of the illness, assess the condition of the patient, analyse the degree of affliction, before prescribing medicines or performing a surgery.

He should not slip, but constantly keep in mind that life is precious, any little misdoing , any wrong move,any half hearted attempt ,will cost a value.

Admitting the sick person in a well founded hospital, giving him a posh furnished room, nursing him with expensive medication, coaxing him with all comforts, cajoling him with relievers , is a transitory truancy.

The patient ,should be made aware of his ailment, should be compelled to respond to proper medication, and should be subjected to exact applications, however hard, however serious, however strenuous it may work out.

The economy is nearly dead.The infection and infliction is worldwide

To revive it , a lesson has to be learnt in a hard way.

First decimate corruption, weed bribery, extract treachery, diffuse falsification, defer procrastination.

Then , maintain transparency, practise faith, avoid double accounting,insist urgency,and centralise trust.

Once , these significant principles are moderated, the economy will look up.

The theory of Bail out , as perceived in U.S ,and stimulus , as referred in India ,will have a meaning and will win a purpose.

The jostling mind.

Milton’s words are worth a million.

It is the mind which governs the individual.

Physical discomfort can be alleviated by medicine.

Financial pressure can be alienated by proper management of wealth.

Mental burden can be aggravated by simple mechanism of taunt ,envy,treachery,and indifference.

A solid mind is structured by,a sure dictum, an invincible courage ,an undaunted spirit,an indomitable stoicism.

All these idiosyncrasies ,in excess support , fumble in no time,when the tide turns against the norms.

The mind gets tossed as the tidal waves.

There is lot of puffing. lot of sighing,and lot of fretting.

Bereft of sleep. exhausted of fatigue, tired of controversies,submerged by apprehensions,and shaken by atrocities, the mind dives deep into a whirlpool of misery.

Misfortune breaks the spine.

The man becomes a ghost of his original.

Mind can wrought wonders and confound ruins.
