The morning was pleasant
With the newspapers in one hand
and with a phone on the other hand
woke up to the world’s call
of news from all parts to read
of information from the family to heed.
The time for breakfast was moving on
with nothing in way of preparation.
ran to the kitchen dry
to work on a dish of deep fry
which came out with a fine taste
sat down to eat it with no haste
winding up with a cup of hot tea

Antarctica Calls
With the sun at its peak
did not know wherein to sneak
as the electricity was erratic
causing a fatigue chaotic
rushed out to the portico
with a book on Antarctica.
Reading through found
that there was no bound
as the continent lay on ice
where sun is never on the rise
It is always bitter cold
and nothing is sold.
Reading further started to shiver
pulled the shirt in a quiver
as the narration headed towards
Eskimos made me move forward
settling in a posture of riding a sledge
pulled by the reindeer crossing the dredges.
They ate the meat raw and fresh
said the pages without a stress
which brought a distaste in the mouth
unbearable to brook turned South
to the region where sun shines
radiating heat across the lines.

Out Of Range
My cousin is a bookworm
always reading in terms
with his thick glasses on
he read on an on
forgot to eat
was not neat
wearing a faded trouser
One day he got an offer
from a leading university
as Professor of History.
Mind you he became
stylish all the same
an overnight change
very much out of range .

A sparrow sitting on a bough
singing merrily high above
came down in a speedy flight
seeing a morsel of bread on sight
a big fluffy cat came chasing
as the little sparrow was descending
forcing the bird to a hasty retreat
as the cat wanted to have the entire treat
The morsel was in fragments small
not enough for the cat’s call
but adequate for the sparrow
Cats are known for their stealth and sly
as greed always has its way
the cat got nothing out of its try
but successfully made the little bird fly.
Living in a world of dreams
she talked of everything that seems
raving over things that would never take place
seeing things out of the mental eye in haze
refusing to get into the realistic in any likelihood
going into the world of utopia in every attitude
she passes her days without any discomfort absolute.
living like a princess facing no dispute.

Eating out has never been my forte.
A little partake would lead me to a doubt
of the ingredients that go to make it out.
The staunch vegetarian in me pops with a force
smelling everything that sends out a smell from the source
Unknowingly I go into the depth of the preparation
attempting to find out the reason for any aberration
unassuming I trace the quality of the flour and dub it inferior
confirming as well the butter that gets into it is not superior
my mind proceeds fervently to qualify them with a peculiar disregard
unnerving the co diners to withdraw from the “a la carte”.

Rickety Stool.
Un school.
Crying the child got ready to school.
eating up whatever she could
she was put in the bus with a load
of text and note books and lunch
The little one carrying everything saw a bunch
of her friends looking equally disturbed
pulling their faces long they remained perturbed
of the day ahead with its toil and turmoil
reading, writing, counting and reciting a total boil
of everything with nothing to store in the head
an expenditure of money, time and happiness instead.
Pledging the child’s happiness in the school
feeling that they have given the best they could
the parents go about with their ways and life.
Does this not sound a tedious strife?
Can we not explore possible means to solve this?
Not sending the children to school is one of these
that needs to be weighed with fervour.
Children already in should be un schooled quick so ever.
Let the child learn by seeing things that is around her.
Let she examine the shape, colour and material lying near her.
In the course things would unravel gradually and ignite
the curious mind with a lovely shine.
The concept may be an out of box attempt.
It would definitely serve as a preempt
to the much awaited renaissance in education
that has mulled, muffled and strangled for generations.
