Stages Of Friendship

I had a score of friends when I was small.
We played the whole day without a fall.
We played hide and seek in the hall.
We hid behind the big wall
Then came out in a crawl.

I had ten friends when I was an adolescent.
The memory of those days is still nascent.
We shared our feelings ebullient.
We enriched ourselves with references brilliant.
The aroma of that kinshiphide and seek is effervescent.

As I age my friendship narrows down.
My circle is almost five down.
Mostly I languish alone.
Now I propose a softened tone.
The days of noise are no more known.

It Was A sunday.

sunday
It was a quiet day.
Is it a Sunday?

None walked down the street all day.
No cars hooted during the course of the day.

Nothing to diffuse the serenity of the day
except the rustling of leaves in the alley,
humming a melodious tune to the breezy wave.

No other thing to distract the quietness
except the murmuring of the river with an eagerness
repeating the flow in a sequential liveliness,

None the less the day passed on untainted.
The day folded naturally without being garishly painted.
The serenity released a sombre feeling much awaited

A Four Letter Word.

It is a four letter word.

Call it what you may.

It is  on the sign board.

It  denotes a place.

Many names are below it.

They also stand for places.

The four letter word stands first.

Look at it, nothing else.

The command reckons.

She being a scholar stays put.

She gazes at it from afar.

Nothing is visible.

The colours blue and white sparkles.

She sits  puzzled.

She sees no letters

She perceives  a writing vague.

She squints her eyes.

Tries to decipher.

She could not.

It is a four letter word.

Shouts  the voice.

She keeps silent

She has become an illiterate.

She expresses a wry smile.

She makes no noise.

A Baby Sleeps

A little baby is lying in a cradle,

She is making  noises in a babble,

Her cries are calls a little feeble,

She mostly lets out a giggle.

The baby is like a dainty rose,

Tiny appears her fingers and toes,

Her face enlightens all those,

Her smile ensues a lovely glow.

Soon her eyes gently close,

She sucks her thumb in a doze,

  As her charm increasingly grows,

Opening out to all an ecstatic source.

It is a pleasure to see her sleep,

Her light slumber is not deep,

She gets startled at a tiny beep,

Forcing a stealthy silence in a creep.

Peeping over the cradle for long,

Sends a tranquil vibration all along,

Sets the mind at peace not wrong,

Makes the heart sing a merry song.

It is a pleasure unexplainable,

It is a leisure unfathomable,

Oh!Is not my verse lovable?

Nay,it is the  way the baby sleeps  is enjoyable.

Now a Noise then a Silence.

There was a loud thunder,

Then a silence,

There was a great fall,

Then a silence,

There was a hideous clash,

Then a silence,

There was a deliberate blow,

Then a silence,

There was a terrific gunning,

Then a silence,

There was heart-rending cry,

Then a silence,

There was a rattling prattle,

Then a silence,

There was a deafening noise,

Then a silence,

There was, there was ,everything loud,

Yet, there was, there was ,then a silence.

Jarring Notes

The early morn broke out,

Yes ,today  it blasted loud,

The serenity got deterred

Finally the sleep got frittered.

The music  was bellowing,

There exposed a spell of yawning,

The mike was screaming,

Which provoked  a sudden startling,

The  lovely morning  peace,

was shattered into piece.

The noise  became  unbearable,

The  ears lost their decibel

The whole day ended spoilt,

The night opened out to a fault.
