Punctuations In Life.

It is a comma that brings about a suspense

It is a hyphen that links one another in a sense.

It is a semicolon that gives two separate ideas in an attribution.

It is a colon that makes us wait for more revelations.

It is a question mark that allows us to reason.

It is the exclamation  that points to joy and sadness  according to season.

It is  within inverted commas we quote others which enliven.

It is between the brackets additional information is given.

It is the full stop that puts an end to writing.

In life we encounter many struggles and setbacks,

Knowingly or unknowingly we align with one another in the track.

Our alliance might evolve a relationship good or bad.

In course of time we would be subjected to turmoil sad.

The reasoning mind would look with suspicion.

The joy or sorrow would keep us in  tension.

We seek the advice of experienced men.

Bracketing with others we pull on like a hen.

At last we get into the grave never to wake again.

Paradoxical Anachronism

Burning the midnight candle,

the girl was reading aloud,

memorizing the portions,

with or without understanding,

as on tomorrow she writes the examination,

it is a three-hour ordeal,

that sets her career,

the marks she scores,

would lead her in life,

well, it is the marks ,

that call for attention,

it is not the comprehension,

that shapes her future,

it might sound natural to all,

to me it is  avidly alien,

it sounds incorrigible  and unpleasant,

it tastes exclusively bitter,

it is the way of life, they quoth

anything other is an anachronism, they feel,

so, I stand out: an odd woman out.

Once Upon A Time

There was a lovely pond,

Full of water and fish,

The ducks traversed in a bond,

Quacking all the way with a wish,

Water lilies and lotus bloomed beautifully,

The children played around merrily,

One fine day the pond was drained,

Sand was dumped to make it plain,

The pond took the shape of a big ground,

The land value was  zealously found,

Buildings came up in  scores,

Offices started operations in full force,

Thus the pond lost its serenity overnight,

It is an illustration of greed in sight,

It is money that looks  highly grand

All other things are forgotten in this land.

The Smoke

There was a huff and a puff,

There was a loud jarring cough,

There was a heavy sneeze,

A smoke was seen through the trees.

The fire was ignited to burn rubbish,

It lay all around in big heaps,

The fumes butted out in a fleece,

It spoilt the environment’s peace.

It choked the young and old alike,

The lungs had to perform a strike,

Working with wheezing and  halted breath,

Struggling amidst  the spasmodic hearth.

People go about their own way,

Spoiling the habitation in a quick sway,

Inflicting the population with a deal,

Far more criminal than steal.

The Warming

The sun shines fiery red,

The sky is sparkling bright,

It is a dazzling sight.

The temperature rises high,

The heat makes us sigh,

Forcing us to utter a cry.

The sun becomes fierce,

The redness turns vitreous.

It evolves a lot of fears.

The  trees are cut,

The flow of water is shut,

The land turns into a rut.

It is an ominous portraiture,

It is  a neglect of nature,

It is an environmental  disaster.

There is no retributive action,

Summits are arranged for discussions,

Involving expenses in large proportions.

Leaders fly across the world,

Talk long with eloquence gold,

Return with no solution bold.

Years go in speed,

Yet there is no lead,

To sort out the bleed.

A Child Is A Child.

I observe in silence,

I hear in magnitude,

I see in-depth,

That is what I can do.

A child begins her day,

Setting aside everything gay,

Pushing back all her play,

Switching on to the rigorous fray.

She gets ready in a hurry,

Breaks her fast in a flurry,

Casting her likes in a bury,

She walks up in a slurry.

Still sleep lingers in her eyes,

As she opens her reader to a size,

Pouring over the book in a guise,

She follows the teacher with a despise.

From school she comes home,

Falls asleep in her cosy bedroom,

The little girl finds no time to bloom,

Eventually she has to face the doom.

A Birthday Party.

It was a birthday party,

It looked like any other  party,

The child was the  main party,

She did not know about the party.

The child was a frail one year old,

She was in her mother’s hold,

Looking at all with a fear untold,

She felt cramped in the hubbub cold,

Poor child! she trembled in the fold.

The gathering was excited most,

Games were for them almost,

The couples danced  vibrantly to the toast,

Leaving a feeling of distaste utmost,

Oh! the poor child was ignored foremost.

The cake was cut with much fanfare,

Happy Birthday ranted high in the air.

The balloons were burst in the fare,

Raising a loud noise beyond the dare,

Oh! the poor child looked like a timid hare.

Was not the party for the child? I enquire,

Nay! it is for the adults, I hear,

Should not the children participate? I jeer,

Never! It is a boisterous revelry, very clear,

Oh! the  poor child started crying in fear.

Meaningless Plight.

I gaze at the ratio,

Cars ply up and down

Bikes expel fumes brown,

The honking is deafening,

The thoroughfare is burdening,

The environment has  dealing,

The carbon emission is suffocating,

Where do they go? I wonder,

What for ? I ponder,

The  activity extends to midnight,

It looks to me a meaningless plight.

Lizards Talk.

I looked up at the ceiling.

I saw two lizards talking,

What do they have to talk?

Do I sound audacious?

I started wondering,

Their talk continued for long,

It seemed to be never-ending,

I came to understand,

They  too have issues to discuss,

More so like men,

Breaking their heads over money,

Worrying about relationships,

Gossiping about others,

Finding fault with administration,

Scolding their little ones,

Quarreling with each other,

I try to follow their voice,

I could not do so,

But finally accepted,

Lizards can talk.

The Concept Of Religion.

Is religion anything to be afraid of?

Does it hold anything to be scared of?

It is a puzzle that keeps us off.

A blind follow of religion is common,

Any question is considered uncommon,

Religious calls are like summons.

Believers have different convictions,

Some say it is superstition,

Others express it as hallucination.

Well, things go about like that,

The best interpretation of religion is flat,

It says , occupation is religion, with a bat.

Business is an occupation,

It proposes a clean transaction,

Indeed, it is a positive perception.

Governance is a challenge,

It demands a balance in a range,

Incidentally it is a plausible change.

Professionals have to be sincere,

Their vocation commands high revere,

Likely it is  trait of great endear.

Each one has his own duty

The  predicament is itself a beauty,

Cumulatively this is religion in its glory.
