Once Upon A Time

There was a lovely pond,

Full of water and fish,

The ducks traversed in a bond,

Quacking all the way with a wish,

Water lilies and lotus bloomed beautifully,

The children played around merrily,

One fine day the pond was drained,

Sand was dumped to make it plain,

The pond took the shape of a big ground,

The land value was  zealously found,

Buildings came up in  scores,

Offices started operations in full force,

Thus the pond lost its serenity overnight,

It is an illustration of greed in sight,

It is money that looks  highly grand

All other things are forgotten in this land.

The Smoke

There was a huff and a puff,

There was a loud jarring cough,

There was a heavy sneeze,

A smoke was seen through the trees.

The fire was ignited to burn rubbish,

It lay all around in big heaps,

The fumes butted out in a fleece,

It spoilt the environment’s peace.

It choked the young and old alike,

The lungs had to perform a strike,

Working with wheezing and  halted breath,

Struggling amidst  the spasmodic hearth.

People go about their own way,

Spoiling the habitation in a quick sway,

Inflicting the population with a deal,

Far more criminal than steal.

The Warming

The sun shines fiery red,

The sky is sparkling bright,

It is a dazzling sight.

The temperature rises high,

The heat makes us sigh,

Forcing us to utter a cry.

The sun becomes fierce,

The redness turns vitreous.

It evolves a lot of fears.

The  trees are cut,

The flow of water is shut,

The land turns into a rut.

It is an ominous portraiture,

It is  a neglect of nature,

It is an environmental  disaster.

There is no retributive action,

Summits are arranged for discussions,

Involving expenses in large proportions.

Leaders fly across the world,

Talk long with eloquence gold,

Return with no solution bold.

Years go in speed,

Yet there is no lead,

To sort out the bleed.

A Child Is A Child.

I observe in silence,

I hear in magnitude,

I see in-depth,

That is what I can do.

A child begins her day,

Setting aside everything gay,

Pushing back all her play,

Switching on to the rigorous fray.

She gets ready in a hurry,

Breaks her fast in a flurry,

Casting her likes in a bury,

She walks up in a slurry.

Still sleep lingers in her eyes,

As she opens her reader to a size,

Pouring over the book in a guise,

She follows the teacher with a despise.

From school she comes home,

Falls asleep in her cosy bedroom,

The little girl finds no time to bloom,

Eventually she has to face the doom.

Meaningless Plight.

I gaze at the ratio,

Cars ply up and down

Bikes expel fumes brown,

The honking is deafening,

The thoroughfare is burdening,

The environment has  dealing,

The carbon emission is suffocating,

Where do they go? I wonder,

What for ? I ponder,

The  activity extends to midnight,

It looks to me a meaningless plight.

Looking Daggers

Daggers are weapons sharp,

Eyes are organs incisive,

Daggers bring fear and night mare,

Stains of blood are smeared everywhere,

Eyes emit evil and conceit,

Remnants of hate are found everywhere.

The physical assault is horrendous,

As a stab slits open the physique,

Inflicting a damage deadly  to the body,

The mental attack is torturous,

As a  look tears apart the psychic,

Paralysing the mind to a desolation.

She looks daggers goes the simile,

Looks are more penetrating than a sting,

They kill the spirit of life  on the whole,

Decimating the liveliness from the soul,

It is definitely worse than a brutal murder,

As it impoverishes the  mind of its glory.

The piercing dagger and the evil looks,

Kill the life and spirit in a momentum,

As stabbing  fiercely takes the life out,

Looking deceitfully throws the mind asunder,

There fore  life holds no value basically,

Lo!the spirit lies dead unceremoniously.

My Late Loving Pal.

Palpitations kept his  heart beat in a race,

An unexplainable sorrow stole the grace,

An unbelievable tale set the  deface,

It was a hell to survive the blaze.

Nevertheless  he had to get through it  in a daze

There were additional frothing in the furnace,

Boiling over in an unexpected  ablaze

Yet  he had to put up with it in a phase.

It was all built up in a madness,

It was a texture of serious illness,

It massacred the veracity to a stillness,

Yet  he had to face it with a boldness.

The heart fluttered high and low,

Casting a picture of a shadowy glow,

The performance was deadly slow,

Oh! the extension was halted with a severe blow.

It is a story of a loving pal,

He fell a prey to a rude call,

Oh! it was a terrible fall,

Lo! he breathed his last in a drawl.

Sprucing Up

The garden was stocked with fallen leaves,

Gathering them up was a task in a fleece,

There was an uninterrupted fall from trees,

Leaves came down slowly after a gentle breeze.

Green and yellow leaves  lay scattered without a cease,

Twigs small and big landed down in the crease,

They made the garden look like a messy freeze,

Inadvertently it seemed an entertainment set to please.

Cleaning up was a target beyond reach,

Finding a team was a difficult breach,

The work had to be done with a screech,

As there was no time to impeach.

Like the dry leaves thoughts crowd

The mind quivers in a desperate shroud,

Sprucing it up seems to be a task loud,

Resuming equanimity is like a falling cloud.

The imbalance strikes hard mercilessly,

Reviewing it generates apprehension enormously,

Yet gardens could be swept and cleaned spotlessly,

But the mind  withholds the trials though not erroneously.

Any Cause For Hurt

Falling down causes a hurt,

Skidding leads to a hurt,

Seeing daggers imposes a hurt,

Speaking sharp proposes a hurt,

Attitude indifferent brings out a hurt,

Physical wound is a tolerable hurt,

Abstract outrage is an unbearable hurt.

As accidents are causes for hurts,

Evil  breaks up  lot of hurts,

The body staggers with a hurt,

It loses its power along with a hurt,

The mind succumbs to the hurt,

It desperately slides down with the hurt,

This is the most diabolical of all hurts.

Schools Today

Schools are production houses akin to industries

They are into manufacturing  process with diligence,

Children are spun into yarn without any thick and thin,

Then woven into weft and warp  without any fault,

Finally  they find their light more or less like a cloth

Schools are into intense competition,

Learning by rote is the only assumption,

Reading becomes a mere  automatic application,

Writing takes the form of  just copying,

Comprehension is nowhere to be found.

Children perform under pressure,

Losing their childhood in the course,

Scores usurp the central place,

Assimilation takes the back seat,

It is a mechanical mess up.

Tests and exams are predominant,

High grades are the goal of the parents,

Streams of examinations besiege the young mind,

Abandoning them into a cess pool of valuation,

Dooming them to a world of professionalism.

Each child has a liking of its own,

Each one can live his life  only once,

Robbing them of their play and leisure,

Compelling them to forsake their ambition,

Is a dreaded sin than any other.

Schools with excessive achievements,

Steal the show and grab the status,

Their demands make us fall back,

The education imparted is no way fabulous,

Yet we find a long queue  waiting in their gates.

Two and a half-year old has  to take a test,

Parents have to attend interviews,

Those who are supposed to be in the cradle,

Come out to face the stern teachers,

The sweet smile converts itself to a loud cry.

Oh! what a cruelty  the children undergo,

Where are you Blue cross and Red cross?

Taking care of animals is humanitarian,

How do you miss the plight of the toddlers?

Could you not do anything to save them?
